Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide a discussion on the function of ‘mass communication’ at the time when the Republic of Turkey emerged as a nation-state, concerning the case of “Kadro” journal published between the years 1932 and 1934. In this study, Kadro Journal is analyzed with its emphasis on statism within the 1930s’ socio-political atmosphere. The relationship between statism practices and the effects of Kadro on the conjuncture of the historical term, as well as the socio-political effects of mass communication through the context of the “Kadro Movement’ are discussed.

A DEBATE ON MASS COMMUNICATION THEORIES: KADRO JOURNAL AS AN EXAMPLE
