Dr. Gözde Sunal, 2004-2009 yılında İstanbul Ticaret Üniversitesi Görsel İletişim Tasarımı bölümünde lisans eğitimini tamamladı. 2009-2011 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi Radyo Televizyon Sinema yüksek lisans programı ve 2011-2015 yılında Maltepe Üniversitesi İletişim Bilimleri doktora programından mezun oldu. 2009 yılından itibaren mezun olduğu üniversitede çalışan Sunal, şu an İletişim Fakültesi'nde Dekan Yardımcısı olarak görev yapmaktadır. 1978 Berlin doğumlu Doç. Dr. Taylan Maral, Anadolu Üniversitesi İşletme Bölümünden lisans mezunu olmuştur. Yüksek lisans eğitimini İstanbul Arel Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Medya ve Kültürel Çalışmalar Programında tamamlamış; doktora derecesini ise İstanbul Üniversitesi Gazetecilik Anabilim Dalından, “12 Eylül 1980 Müdahalesi Öncesi ve Sonrasında Hürriyet Gazetesinin Yayın Politikası” başlıklı tez çalışması ile almıştır.

Halen İstanbul Gelişim Üniversitesi İktisadi, İdari ve Sosyal Bilimler Fakültesi Yeni Medya ve İletişim Bölüm Başkanı olarak görev yapmaktadır. Akademik ilgi alanları gazetecilik, sosyal medya, yeni medya araştırmaları, yapay zeka ve oyunlaştırma üzerine yoğunlaşmaktadır.

Yayınlanmış eserleri arasında “Kürt Kimliğinin Siyasallaşma Süreci ve Medya” ve “Birinci Kuvvet Basın” başlıklı kitapları bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca, yapay zeka ve gazetecilik ile gazetecilikte oyunlaştırma ve haber oyunları konularında birçok kitap bölümüne katkı sağlamış ve bilimsel makaleler kaleme almıştır. Dijital fotoğrafçılık, yeni medya sinema ve dijital içerik üretimi gibi alanlarda çeşitli kurullarda aktif olarak görev almakta ve jüri üyeliği yapmaktadır. 

Gazete ve dergilere köşe yazısı da yazan Maral, geleneksel basın unsurlarının dijitalleşme çalışmaları üzerine araştırmalar yapmaktadır.

Dr & Dr Tülây ATAY currently teaches at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University (HMKU), Antakya, Hatay, Faculty of Communication, Department of Journalism as a faculty member (Assistant Professor) and a researcher. She is a Turkish Citizen. She was born and bred in Istanbul, Turkey and graduated from Istanbul University. She holds a BA degree in Mass-Media Communication & Journalism & PR. She has a Master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology and Gender & Women’s Studies. She is a co-author of the book called “Gender & Sex and Taboo in the Contemporary Primitive & Traditional Societies” in the Turkish Language based on her MA thesis. The book is written from the perspective of women’s and gender studies. She was one of the co-founders of the Centre for Women’s Studies of Mustafa Kemal University. She served and was in charge as one of the deputy directors of the Centre for Women’s Studies of Mustafa Kemal University, Antakya, Hatay, Turkey. She previously worked as a “business developer” for many SMEs in the various fields such as automotive, textile etc. She worked as an Assistant Producer for Turkish Radio Television State Company (TRT) between 1995-1996. She earned her PhD from the Department of Agriculture Economics and Extensions at Çukurova University, Adana, Turkey in October 2013. She produced her Ph.D. thesis on the division of labour amongst ethnically different two villages near Hatay province in the context of changing social life and Women’s & Gender Studies. Tülay’s areas of interests are women empowerment and women’s studies using other disciplines. She is holding a sociology BA degree obtained from Open Faculty, Anadolu University, Eskişehir, Turkey. She is a PhD candidate at Journalism, İstanbul University, İstanbul, Turkey. She was a temporary National Gender Consultant for Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). She lived in the UK and USA for a while. She has been in Portugal, Slovenia, Ukraine, Scotland, Romania, Holland, Italy, Spain, Estonia, UAE, Malaysia, Poland, Czeck Republic and France for academic purposes. She is a single mom and, has an adorable daughter, Dafne (Daphne, the nymph) who has been an exchange student and 11th grader at Halifax West High School, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. They have been living happily in Antakya, Hatay, Turkey since 1998. She was a scientist-in-residence at Paris Lodron University of Salzburg financially supported by GendUp and Salzburg Stadt (Municipality), Salzburg, Austria. She is also currently engaging with the FoTRRIS-H2020 project (women and immigration) run by Complutense University of Madrid. She recently chaired the MEDCOM 2017, KL, Malaysia.

Peer Review Process

The editorial board peruses the submitted material with regard to both form and content before sending it on to referees. They may also consider the views of the advisory board. After the deliberation of the editorial board, submitted material is sent to two referees. In order for any material to be published, at least two of the referees must approve it. The revision and improvement demanded by the referees must be implemented in order for an article to be published. Authors are informed within three months about the decision regarding the publication of their material. All the papers are controlled academically with the TURNITIN / CrossCheck by iThenticate program.

Open Access Policy

Electronic Journal of New Media (e-JNM) adopted a policy of providing open access.

This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text sof the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

Publication Charge

No publication charge or article processing charge is required. All accepted manuscripts will be published free of cost.

Principles of Research and Publication Ethics

In scientific papers sent to eJNM, the guidelines related to the Scientific Research and Publication Ethics of Higher Education Institutions, the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editor sand the International Standards for the Authors and Authors of the Committee should be taken into attention. Plagiarism, forgery in the data, misleading, repetition of publications, divisional publication and individuals who do not contribute to the research are among the authors are unacceptable practices within the ethical rules. Legal actions will be taken in case of any ethical irregularity related to this and similar practices.

Plagiarism: Placing the original ideas, methods, data, or works of others, partly or completely, without making reference to the scientific rules, is dealt with in the context of plagiarism. In order to avoid plagiarism,the authors should refer to the scientific rules in a manner that is appropriate and should pay attention to the references of all scientific papers in their works.

Forgery of Data: The use of data that does not exist or is modified in scientific research is data in the scopeof forgery. Authors should analyze their data in accordance with ethical rules and without exposing them to achange in validity and reliability during the research process.

Detortion: Changing the records or data obtained from the study, showing the devices or materials that are not used in the research as used, changing or shaping the research results according to the interests of the people and organizations that are supported are considered within the scope of distortion. The authors should be honest, objective and transparent in the information they provide in relation to the research process. They should avoid violating the rules of ethics.

Repetition: Presenting the same publication as separate publications without referring to the previous publications is considered within the scope of repetition of publications. The responsibility for the publicationof the publications submitted for evaluation in another place or in the evaluation process belongs to the The authors should refrain from repeating the original and original research and they should pay attention to submit their original and original research.

Divisional Publication: It is the dissemination of the results of a research within the scope of dissemination in more than one way that disrupts the integrity of the research and publishing these publications as separate publications. It is claimed that this is necessary in order to protect author's rights, and to regulate permissions for reprints or other use of the published research. e-JNM have a copyright form which is required authors to sign over all of the rights when their article is ready for publication.

Waiver Policy

Electronic Journal of New Media is an open-access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Writing Rules 

GENERAL RULES

The language to be used in articles published in the journal is Turkish and English. If there is a supporting institution for the study, the information of the supporting institution should be indicated as a footnote on the last word of the article title (*) and on the same page. Submitted articles should not exceed 12,000 words, including references and appendices. Articles should be formatted according to the APA reference system (APA 7.0). Please make sure that references given in the text are included in the reference list. The maximum similarity rate determined by the editorial board for our journal is 15%. Filtering options in the similarity detection program are set as follows: – Excluding references (Bibliography excluded) – Excluding text parts with less than 5-word overlap (Limit match size to 5 words) – Other filtering options in the program menu are not included in the report.

Writing Rules

All submissions to our journal must have the following characteristics:

As a basic writing rule, submitted studies should be written in accordance with the APA (7.0) style. Examples and exceptions are listed below:GENERAL RULES

Page Layout

The entire text area should be 170 mm X 240 mm, leaving 3.5 cm at the top, 2.5 cm at the bottom, 2.5 cm on the left, and 2 cm on the right.

Font

Times New Roman font should be used. The Turkish “Abstract” and English “Abstract” sections should be in 11-point font, the main text should be in 11-point font, and the references section should be in 11-point font. The text, Turkish-English abstracts, and references should be justified and single-spaced. There should be a one-line space between paragraphs.

Headings

The article should be organized into main and subheadings.

Main Heading

In Times New Roman font, uppercase, bold, and 14-point size, the main heading should be in Microsoft Word format. The author’s name, abbreviations, ORCID number, and email address should be written two lines below the title, with the author’s name in lowercase and surname in uppercase, in 11-point font.

Abstract

The abstract should be written in Times New Roman font, uppercase, bold, 11-point size, fully justified, and in a single paragraph in Microsoft Word format, following the Turkish keywords. It should not exceed 600 words and should be in Times New Roman font in Microsoft Word format. The keywords in the abstract should be in italics, bold, and 11-point font. The first letters of at least three and maximum five keywords suitable for the article should be capitalized, and the others in lowercase. The abstract should provide brief information about the subject, research method, and results of the article.

Sections

Subheadings created according to the content of the article (INTRODUCTION, CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK, LITERATURE REVIEW, RESEARCH METHODOLOGY, FINDINGS, CONCLUSION, etc.) should be in uppercase, bold, 11-point font, and without numbering.

Main Text

Subheadings should be written in 11-point font, bold, and uppercase, and the text should be in 11-point font, Times New Roman font in Microsoft Word format. Articles should be written in a single column, justified, with single line spacing between paragraphs. The first subsection after the keywords should begin one line below and there should be no space in the following text paragraphs. The length of the article, including figures and tables, should not exceed 30 pages.

Tables, Figures, Graphs, and Images

If tables, figures, graphs, and images used in the text are not created by the author(s) themselves, they can be used in the text by indicating the “source”. Tables, figures, graphs, and images should be placed in the text to fit and their titles should be written in 11-point font. Tables and graphs used in the text should be numbered and titled as Table 1, Table 2./Graph 1, Graph 2, etc. The table numbers and titles should be written before the table. The numbers and titles of figures, graphs, and images should be written after them (figure, graph, image) in lower case except for the first letter, such as Figure 1, Figure 2./Image 1, Image 2, etc.

Conclusion

The title should be bold, 11-point font, uppercase, and the text should be in 11-point Times New Roman font in Microsoft Word format.
