With the increasing popularity of cryptocurrencies, especially since 2017, a large number of crypto currencies have been launched. The majority of these cryptocurrencies were funded by the Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) and continue to be funded today. Most of the cryptocurrencies to be launched on the market fail due to insufficient funding at the ICO stage. It emerges as a decision problem which modern marketing strategies to be used by the crypto currencies that are planned to be launched, to have a successful ICO phase. In the study, the TOPSIS method, which is a multi-criteria decision making method, was used by referring to the opinions of 5 experts for this decision problem. Results of the study shows that, viral marketing emerged as the optimum marketing strategy to be used in the ICO phase. Viral marketing strategy was followed by word of mouth and niche marketing. The worst marketing strategy for the ICO stage is; originated as guerrilla marketing.
