The views and expectations of academicians about retirement / Akademik personelin emeklilikleriyle ilgili görüş ve beklentileri
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the views and expectations of academicians about retirement. This qualitative study has been carried through “interview technique”. Inductive analysis technique, one of the content analysis types, has been used for the analysis of the data. The study group consists of 15 academicians who work in different departments of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in the fall term of 2013-2014 academic year and near to retirement. The data of the study has been gathered with the semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers. The questions on the form are based on the related literature. The form includes 8 questions. The sub-themes of the form are the meaning of retirement process for academicians, determining the retirement time of academicians, plans after retirement, preparations for retirement and the views for the programs of retirement. Results and recommendations have been put forward regarding to the findings of the study. According to the results of the study, academicians state different views about retirement.
