Gastrointestinal amyloidosis and Behçet's disease

Abstract

Background/aims: Amyloidosis is rarely seen in patients with Behçet's disease. Rectum biopsy is a commonly used site of biopsy for the diagnosis of gastrointestinal amyloidosis. In this study, amyloidosis was searched in patients with Behçet's disease. Materials and Methods: Eleven patients with Behçet's disease were examined with intestinal biopsy. Results: No amyloidosis was seen in the patients. Conclusions: Although amyloidosis has been only rarely associated with Behçet's disease, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis.

Behçet hastalığı ve gastrointestinal amiloidozis

Abstract

Giriş ve Amaç: Behçet hastalığı'nda amiloidoz nadir görülmektedir. Amiloidozis tanısında rektum biyopsisi incelemesi, başvurulan yöntemlerden biridir. Bu çalışmada Behçet Hastalarındaki kolon biyopsilerinde amiloidoz varlığının ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Behçet hastalığı tanısı ile takip edilen 11 olgunun intestinal biyopsilerindeki amiloid incelemesi literatür gözden geçirilerek sunulmuştur. Bulgular: Olgularda intestinal biyopsilerde amiloid birikimine rastlanmamıştır. Sonuç: Behçet hastalığı ile izlenen olgularda amiloidoz nadir görülmekle birlikte, amiloidoz ayırıcı tanısında Behçet Hastalığı'da akılda tutulmalıdır.
