Determination of the Serum Malondialdehyde, Ceruloplasmin, Adenosine Deaminase Levels in Cattle with Cystic Echinococcosis

Abstract

In this study, malondialdehyde (MDA), ceruloplasmine (CER) and adenozine deaminase (ADA) concentrations were investigated in cattle with cystic echinococcosis. Group I consisted of 15 cattle with cystic echinococcosis whereas Group II consisted of 10 clinically healthy cattle aged 2-3 years. Venous blood samples were taken from the animals before being slaughtered in the Samsun province. At necropsy, suspiciousstructurs in lesions were examined parazitologically concerning cystic echinococcosis in various organs and animals with protoscolex formed the experimental group and the control group consisted of animals which were found clinically healthy and without any lesions in their examinations. Serum MDA, CER and ADA levels were measured in positive animals and compared with the levels of healthy animals. Serum concentrations of MDA, CER and ADA (mean ± standard deviation) of Group I were determined as 1.9 ± 0.6 nmol/ml, 10.2 ± 1.8 mg/dl and 43.2 ± 3.9 U/L whereas in the control group, they were 1.4 ± 0.7 nmol/ml, 5.6 ± 1.4 mg/dl and 19.5 ± 4.1 U/L respectively. There was a statistically significant difference in MDA (p < 0.05) and ADA (p < 0.001) values between Group I and II while the difference in CER value (p > 0.05) was not significant.

Kistik Ekinokokkozisli Sığırlarda Serum Malondialdehit, Seruloplazmin ve Adenozin Deaminaz Düzeylerinin Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, kistik ekinokokkozisli sığırlarda serum malondialdehit (MDA), seruloplazmin (CER) ve adenozin deaminaz (ADA) konsantrasyonlarının araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada 2-3 yaşlarında 15 adet kist hidatik (E.granulosus) ile enfekte hayvan Grup I’i ve 10 adet sağlıklı ve kist hidatik negative hayvan da Grup II’yi oluşturdu. Samsun yöresinde mezbahaneye gelen sığırlar venöz kan alındıktan sonra kesime sevk edildi. Nekropsi sonucu değişik organlarda kistik ekinokokkozis açısından şüpheli lezyonlardaki kistik yapılar parazitolojik olarak incelendi ve protoskoleks yönünden pozitif olan sığırlar çalışmanın deneme grubunu, klinik olarak sağlıklı ve organ muayenelerinde herhangi bir lezyon bulunmayan sığırlar ise kontrol grubunu oluşturdu. Pozitifliği saptanan hayvanların serum MDA, CER ve ADA düzeyleri ölçülerek sağlıklı hayvanlar ile kıyaslandı. Kistik ekinokokozis ile enfekte sığırlarda serum MDA, CER ve ADA düzeyleri sırası ile, 1,9 ± 0,6 nmol/ml, 10,2 ± 1,8 mg/dl ve 43,2 ± 3,9 U/L, kontrol grubu sığırlarda ise, 1,4 ± 0,7 nmol/ml, 5,6 ± 1,4 mg/dl ve 19,5 ± 4,1 U/L bulundu. Enfekte ve sağlıklı gruplar arasında serum MDA (p < 0,05) ve ADA (p < 0,001) düzeyleri yönünden fark önemli bulunurken, CER değerleri yönünden fark önemsiz bulundu
