Examining the Educational Balance of Nurses According to Demographic Factors and Different Working Conditions

Abstract

Purpose: Examining the educational balance of nurses according to demographic factors and different working conditions. Material and Methods: One hundred twenty-eight nurses (40 intensive care, 48 ward and 40 outpatient clinic nurses) between the ages of 23 and 55, with an average age of 37.11± 8.35 years, participated in the study. Occupational Balance Questionnaire was applied to the participants. Occupational balance comparisons were made based on data based on demographic characteristics and working conditions. Results: Occupational balance scores of the nurses that are; female (p=0.006), working in intensive care (p=0.023), working in shifts (p=0.032), being dissatisfied with their job (p=0.000), having more than 5 shifts per month (p=0.023), having low sleep time (p<0.05), those with chronic diseases (p=0.015) and those who had an illness in the last month (p=0.005) were found to be low. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of educational balance according to marital status (p = 0.041), education level (p = 0.957) and cohabitants (p = 0.228). Discussion: It was observed that gender, department, working style, job satisfaction, number of shifts, sleep duration and disease status variables were factors that negatively affected the nurses' occupational balance.

Demografik Faktörlere ve Farklı Çalışma Koşullarına Göre Hemşirelerin Okupasyonel Dengesinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Demografik faktörlere ve farklı çalışma koşullarına göre hemşirelerin okupasyonel dengesinin incelenmesidir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya yaş ortalaması 37,11± 8,35 yıl olan 23-55 yaş arası 128 hemşire (40 yoğun bakım, 48 servis ve 40 poliklinik hemşiresi) katıldı. Katılımcılara aktivite-rol denge anketi uygulandı. Demografik özelliklere ve çalışma koşullarına göre verilere göre okupasyonel denge karşılaştırmaları yapıldı. Sonuçlar: Kadın (p=0,006), yoğun bakımda çalışan (p=0,023), vardiyalı çalışan (p=0,032), işinden memnun olmayan (p=0,000), aylık nöbet sayısı 5’ten çok olan (p=0,023), düşük uyku süresi olan (p<0,05), kronik hastalıkları olan (p=0,015) ve son bir ayda hastalık geçiren (p=0,005) hemşirelerin Aktivite-Rol Denge Anketi puanlarının düşük olduğu bulundu. Medeni durum (p=0,041), eğitim seviyesi (p=0,957) ve birlikte yaşanılan kişilere (p=0,228) göre okupasyonel denge bakımından fark bulunmadı. Tartışma: Cinsiyet, çalışılan bölüm, çalışma şekli, iş memnuniyeti, nöbet sayısı, uyku süresi hastalık durumu değişkenlerinin hemşirelerin okupasyonel dengelerini olumsuz etkileyen faktörler olduğu görüldü.
