Otizm Spektrum Bozukluğu Tanılı Çocuğa Sahip Anneler ile Tipik Gelişim Gösteren Çocuğa Sahip Annelerin Okupasyonel Denge ve Serbest Zaman Doyumunun Karşılaştırılması

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmada Otizm Spektrum Bozukluğu (OSB) tanılı çocuğa sahip anneler ile tipik gelişim gösteren çocuğa sahip annelerde okupasyonel denge ve serbest zaman doyumunun karşılaştırılması amaçlandı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmaya OSB tanılı çocuğa sahip olan anneler (n=51) ile tipik gelişim gösteren çocuğa sahip anneler (n=47) dahil edildi. Annelerin okupasyonel dengeleri Aktivite-Rol Dengesi Anketi ile serbest zaman doyumları ise Serbest Zaman Doyum Ölçeği ile değerlendirildi. Değişkenlerin karşılaştırılmasında Mann–Whitney U testi ve Ki-kare testleri kullanıldı. Değişkenler arası ilişkinin yönünü ve düzeyini belirlemek için Spearman korelasyon analizi uygulandı. Sonuçlar: Gruplar arasında serbest zaman doyumunun fiziksel ve rahatlama alt boyutlarında, OSB tanılı çocuğa sahip annelerin puanlarının diğer gruba göre daha düşük olduğu ve bu farkın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu belirlendi (p=0,031, p=0,037). Diğer parametrelerde ise istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmadı (p=0,389, p=0,931 p=0,725, p=0,892, p=0,199). Tartışma: Sonuçlar, OSB tanılı çocuğa sahip annelerin günlük yaşamlarında daha fazla fiziksel yorgunluk yaşadıklarını ve tipik gelişim gösteren çocuğa sahip annelere kıyasla dinlenmeye daha az zaman ayırabildiklerini göstermektedir. Bu bulgular, rehabilitasyon uygulamaları ve aile merkezli programlarda annelerin fiziksel iyilik halini ve serbest zaman aktivitelerini destekleyen yaklaşımların önemini ortaya koymaktadır.

Comparison of Occupational Balance and Leisure Satisfaction in Mothers of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Mothers of Typically Developing Children

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to compare occupational balance and leisure time satisfaction in mothers of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and mothers of typically developing children. Material and Method: The study included 51 mothers of children with ASD and 47 mothers of typically developing children. Occupational balance was evaluated using the Occupational Balance Questionnaire, while leisure time satisfaction was assessed with the Leisure Time Satisfaction Scale. Group comparisons were performed using the Mann–Whitney U and Chi-square tests. Spearman correlation analysis was conducted to examine the relationships between occupational balance and leisure time satisfaction variables. Results: A statistically significant difference was found between the groups in the physical and relaxation sub-dimensions of leisure time satisfaction, with mothers of children diagnosed with ASD scoring lower than the other group (p<0.05). No statistically significant differences were found in other parameters (p>0.05). Conclusion: The results show that mothers of children diagnosed with ASD experience more physical fatigue in their daily lives and have less time to rest compared to mothers of typically developing children. These findings highlight the importance of approaches that support mothers' physical well-being and leisure activities in rehabilitation practices and family-centered programs.
