The Relationship Between The Perceived Fatigue and Occupational Competence in Multiple Sclerosis Patients

Year 2019, Volume: 7 Issue: 2, 79 - 84, 02.02.2019
https://doi.org/10.30720/ered.448612

Abstract

Purpose:
This study was
conducted to investigate the relationship between fatigue and occupational
competence and fatigue in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients.

Material
and Methods:
The study
was carried out in Trakya University Hospital between February and June 2018
with 26 MS patients. Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS), Fatigue Severity
Scale (FSS) and Occupational Self Assessment (OSA) applied to participants.

Results: Statistically significant relationship was found
between FSS and EDSS scores and OSA competence scores (p <.05). No
statistically significant relationship was found between FSS and EDSS scores
with OSA value scores (p> .05).

Discussion: In this study, it was found that perceived fatigue in
MS individuals is correlated with occupational competence. For this reason, we
think that it is important that health professions who are working in
occupational therapy field should make necessary evaluations about fatigue
levels of MS individuals and apply occupational therapy interventions.

Multipl Skleroz Hastalarında Algılanan Yorgunluğun Aktivite-Rol Yeterliliği ile İlişkisi

Year 2019, Volume: 7 Issue: 2, 79 - 84, 02.02.2019
https://doi.org/10.30720/ered.448612
