PLASTİK, REKONSTRÜKTİF VE ESTETİK MEME CERRAHİSİNDE MEDİKAL İLLÜSTRASYON KULLANIMININ KONU ANLATIMINA KATKILARI

Year 2023, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 61 - 84, 30.11.2023

Abstract

CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE MEDICATION ILLUSTRATION TO THE SUBJECT NARRATION IN PLASTIC, RECONSTRUCTIVE, AND AESTHETIC BREAST SURGERY

Year 2023, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 61 - 84, 30.11.2023

Abstract

Compared to verbal communication, the speed of interpreting visual communication harks back to ancient times. Medical illustrations have developed parallel to the history of medicine, social conditions, and technology. Nowadays, even with advancements in visual communication techniques, the primary objective is to communicate medical information in a clear and straightforward manner. With the organization of universities that offer education in this field, medical illustration became an interdisciplinary profession. It is highly important to create content utilizing the advancements in technology to comprehend the techniques, diseases, and treatments applied in the healthcare field, for the purpose of informing the public about public health and supporting students in this field. In this study, we analyzed the benefits of utilizing medical illustrations in Plastic Surgery, particularly within the context of breast reconstruction procedures. Through examination of case studies, we reveal the techniques used in these procedures.
