Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

ETHICAL PRINCIPLES and PUBLICATION POLICY

1- Ege Social Sciences Journal accepts all studies submitted to the journal for evaluation only through the system provided by DergiPark. Studies submitted by mail, fax, e-mail or other means are not evaluated.

2- Authors are obliged to prepare their studies in accordance with the format announced on the Ege Social Sciences Journal website and submit all requested documents (Copyright Transfer Form, Ethics Committee Approval Document, etc.) to the journal. Author names, institution information, contact addresses and ORCID information must be provided completely and accurately, and in case of any change in this information, the journal authorities must be contacted as soon as possible.

3- Articles submitted for publication are expected to comply with the journal's spelling rules; as well as the spelling, punctuation and general rules of the language in which they are written. All sources used in the studies must be cited completely and accurately, in accordance with the journal's spelling rules.

4- Articles sent to the journal are first examined by the editor and the editorial board within the framework of the criteria in question and after being found appropriate, they are scanned for “plagiarism” with the help of various scanning software [currently iThenticate program]. Excluding the bibliography and references, the similarity rate with other texts should not exceed 20% as a result of the scan performed for the main text of the article, without citing the source.

5- It is expected that the studies sent to the Ege Journal of Social Sciences to be evaluated are original.

6- In addition, it is expected that the articles sent to the journal comply with the "SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION ETHICS GUIDELINE" of the YÖK and the COPE principles.

PROCESS OPERATION:
If the "preliminary evaluation" process is successfully completed, the article is sent to two reviewers in accordance with the "blind peer review" principle. Care is taken to ensure that the reviewers are experts in the subject matter of the article. It is ensured that the reviewers are from different institutions than the author and each other, and that they do not have a current professor-student relationship or a known family relationship. Reviewers are sent an invitation letter along with the article text, which does not contain the author's name, and an evaluation form consisting of various evaluation questions. In all cases, the reviewer's answers to the questions in the evaluation form and the markings/warning notes on the article file are sent to the author for guidance. Based on the opinions and suggestions from the reviewers, the author may be asked to make comprehensive changes (major revision) or minor corrections (minor revision) to the article. In addition, if no problems are found, an acceptance decision may be given, and if serious problems are found, a rejection decision may be given. In all cases, the reason is communicated to the author along with the reviewer forms. If two reviewers express different opinions, a third reviewer is asked for their opinion. The third reviewer's evaluation and reasoned recommendation influence the decision.

Articles are accepted for publication only with at least two "positive reports" from designated scientific advisors/reviewers. If the number of positive and negative reviewer opinions is equal, or if there are doubts, the decisions of the Editor and Editorial Board may also determine the outcome. The journal always reserves the right to accept or reject an article for publication, provided that the decision is reasonable and justified. During this evaluation process, the author may be asked to make any necessary changes and corrections to the article.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST DECLARATION:
If the researchers and/or experts invited as referees to evaluate the articles to be published in our journal have any conflict of interest with the author(s) of the study they are asked to evaluate, they must notify the editor or journal editor who receives this as soon as possible.
