Yaşam Doyumunun Kontrol Odağı ve Bazı Değişkenler Açısından İncelenmesi: Kuzey Kıbrıs Örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışma yaşam doyumunun yaş, cinsiyet ve kontrol odağı değişkenleri açısından incelenmesi amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bir durumda değişiklik yapabilme yeteneği olarak tanımlanan kontrol odağı iki boyutlu bir yapıyı temsil eden bir kişilik özelliğidir. Pozitif psikoloji içinde ele alınan yaşam doyumu ise bireyin yaşamını bilişsel olarak değerlendirmesini ifade etmektedir. İlişkisel tarama deseni kullanılan bu çalışma kolay ulaşılabilir örneklem yöntemi ile 2023-2024 eğitim öğretim yılında üniversitelerde öğrenim gören toplam 444 lisans öğrencisi üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada “kişisel bilgi formu”, “Çok Boyutlu Kontrol Odağı Ölçeği” ve “Riverside Yaşam Doyumu Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Toplanan veriler üzerinde gerçekleştirilen normallik analizleri sonucunda parametrik istatistik yöntemleri (betimsel analizler, korelasyon hesaplaması, varyans analizleri, regresyon analizi) kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, katılımcıların hayatından orta düzeyde memnun oldukları, yaş arttıkça yaşam doyumunun anlamlı olarak arttığı, erkeklerin yaşam doyumlarının daha yüksek olduğu, iç kontrol odağı düzeyinin yaşam doyumunu yordamada daha çok etkiye sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Çalışmanın bulguları ilgili literatür ışığında tartışılarak çalışma sonuçlarına ilişkin öneriler ilerleyen kısımlarda sunulmuştur.

Examination of Life Satisfaction in Terms of Locus of Control and Some Variables: The Example of Northern Cyprus

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine life satisfaction in terms of age, gender and locus of control. Locus of control, defined as the ability to make changes in a situation, is a personality trait that represents a two-dimensional structure. Life satisfaction, which is discussed within positive psychology, refers to the individual's cognitive evaluation of his life. This study was used a relational survey design with the easily accessible sampling method on a total of 444 undergraduate students. Personal information form, Multidimensional Locus of Control Scale and Riverside Life Satisfaction Scale were used during the data collection process. As a result of the normality analyzes performed on the collected data, parametric statistical methods (descriptive statistics, Correlation calculation, variance analysis, regression analysis) were used. As a result of the research, it was seen that the participants were moderately satisfied with their lives, life satisfaction increased significantly as age increased, men's life satisfaction was higher, and the level of internal locus of control had a greater effect on predicting life satisfaction. The findings are discussed and suggestions regarding the study results are presented in the following sections. The study was conducted with the permission of the Cyprus Science University Ethics Committee.
