STAKEHOLDER VIEWS ABOUT THE FUNCTIONALITY OF TRAINING GIVEN AT WORKPLACE ABOUT CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION
Abstract
The main objective of this research is to determine views on vocational training at workplace (İŞME) in the field of child development and education in secondary education. Qualitative research model was designed and criterion sampling method was used in the research. Seven Child Development and Education teachers at Hafize ÖZAL Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Battalgazi province of the city of Malatya, and 14 students and eight master trainers working within the scope of İŞME at the above-mentioned high school make up the participants. In the study, the data were gathered in a semi-structured interview form and the content analysis method was used in the analysis of the data. It was found that operations were carried out within the scope of İŞME regulations, that the coordinator teachers determined the appropriate workplaces, that the remedial training was not needed because the İŞME operations were made in accordance with the curriculum, that the master trainers had the necessary knowledge and skills, that İŞME benefits the trainees in terms of having vocational experience and getting to know business life, and that the trainees are not paid their wages on time, which poses a problem. Based on these findings, it is suggested that the implementation of the İŞME be maintained, that the coordinators provide necessary information before the implementation, that the wages be timely paid, and that a joint yearly plan be made.
