Abstract
The aim of this research is to examine the inclusion of elements related to social emotional development in preschool education programs implemented in Turkey since 1952. Document analysis method was used in the research. The material of the study consists of all Ministry of National Education Preschool Education Programs published in Turkey. Content analysis was conducted on pre-school education curricula used in 1952, 1989, 1994, 2002, 2006, and 2013, and the inclusion of elements related to social and emotional development was evaluated. As a result of the study, it was determined that social emotional development was given a wider place from the 1952 Pre-School Education Program to the 2013 Preschool Education Program, but this area should still be strengthened in the program. In this context, it is recommended to include more factors related to social emotional development in the newly structured programs.
