Publication Policy
JHES's publication schedule is twice a year (June/December), with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 articles per issue. However, it also publishes a special issue each year within a limited scope. JHES's publication languages are Turkish and English. JHES's target audience includes all researchers working on the history of education at national and international levels.
Publication Ethics
The publication processes of the Journal of the History of Education Studies are based on the impartial production, development, and sharing of knowledge using scientific methods. Peer-reviewed articles are studies that ensure the application of the scientific method and impartiality. For scientific production to take place, all components of the publication process—publisher, editors, authors, reviewers, and readers—must adhere to ethical principles. In this context, the Journal of the History of Education Studies' publication ethics and open access policy require all components of the publication process to comply with ethical principles, in line with the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) on open access (e.g., "Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors").
If manipulation, distortion, or the use of fabricated data in articles is detected, the institution where the author works will be officially notified, and the article will be rejected. Our journal reserves the right to request output files related to the analysis results from authors based on feedback from editors and/or reviewers.
Publisher's Ethical Responsibilities
Amasya University Faculty of Education, the publisher of the Journal of the History of Education Studies, is a non-profit public education institution focused on public benefit. Regular publication twice a year, starting in 2026, is the publisher's responsibility. The Editorial Board of the Journal of the History of Education Studies consists of academics working in the fields of History of Education, Philosophical, Social and Historical Foundations of Education, Republican History, History of Atatürk's Principles and Reforms, Ottoman Educational History, and Educational Sciences at national and international universities, appointed by the journal editor, who is also appointed by the Amasya University Faculty of Education Board of Directors. The editor may appoint one or more assistant editors and field editors as needed. Depending on the subject matter of the submitted article, the editor may, when necessary, send articles to faculty members who are not members of the Editorial Board to review as field editors.
Responsibilities of the Editorial Board
The Editorial Board of the Journal of the History of Education Studies is responsible for every article submitted to the Journal of the History of Education Studies, and even for all processes after its publication, and the Editorial Board is aware of this responsibility. This responsibility requires that decisions regarding the journal be made independently, considering only the public interest and not personal gain.
The relationship between the publisher and the Editorial Board is based on the principle of independence; all decisions made by the editors are independent of the publisher and other individuals and organizations.
The Editorial Board of the Journal of the History of Education Studies strives to continuously improve the journal and enhance the quality of its publications.
The Editorial Board of the Journal of the History of Education Studies ensures the determination and implementation of journal policies such as publication, blind peer review, evaluation process, and ethical principles.
The Editorial Board of the Journal of the History of Education Studies protects the copyright of the authors of articles published in the Journal of the History of Education Studies.
The Editorial Board of the Journal of the History of Education Studies is responsible for taking measures regarding intellectual property rights, unscientific and unethical behavior, plagiarism, and citation manipulation during the article and journal publication process.
The Editorial Board of the Journal of the History of Education Studies prepares and updates, as necessary, an "Author Guide" containing the information requirements of the author(s) and a "Reviewer Guide" containing the information that reviewers will need during the evaluation phase.
The Editorial Board of the Journal of the History of Education Studies establishes policies to motivate reviewers and authors. The Editorial Board of the Journal of the History of Education Studies keeps records of each article and correspondence related to the journal electronically or in print.
