Anterior Cross-Bite Treatment with Removable Appliances: A Case Series

Abstract

Anterior crossbite is one of the most common malocclusions in children. This problem can be difficult to solve as the arch length decreases during the transition from the mixed dentition to the permanent dentition. 24 patients aged between 7 and 11 (8.6±1.6) who were referred to the clinic with the complaint of crowding in their anterior teeth were included in the study. The removable active acrylic appliance was applied to the patients, additionally, slow expansion was performed in 10 patients with maxillary stenosis. Treatments were completed in an average of 32±14.6 days. The appliance used in the study had been preferred because of its advantages such as low cost, short laboratory procedures, and no need for patient education. The aim of the present study is to underline the importance of treatment timing and to contribute to the literature.
