Brucellosis is a contagious, zoonotic infection caused by Brucella species. Beside the serological and conventional
cultural methods, different polymerase chain reaction (PCR) applications can be used in diagnosis of brucellosis.
The aim of this study was to compare bacteriological culture and PCR methods used for the detection of
Brucella spp. in stomach contents of the 31 bovine, 8 ovine and 1 caprine aborted fetuses. At the end of the study,
same positive and negative results were obtained from both methods.
