ÖĞRETMEN ALGILARIYLA İŞ YERİ MANEVİYATININ DEMOGRAFİK BAĞLAMDA İNCELENMESİ

Year 2025, Volume: 6 Issue: 1, 16 - 31, 23.06.2025

Abstract

EXAMINING TEACHER PERCEPTIONS OF WORKPLACE SPIRITUALITY IN A DEMOGRAPHIC CONTEXT

Year 2025, Volume: 6 Issue: 1, 16 - 31, 23.06.2025

Abstract

This study aims to examine whether teachers' perceptions of workplace spirituality differ according to demographic characteristics. The study, which was conducted with 220 teachers working in secondary schools and imam hatip secondary schools in Rize province, is based on quantitative research method. Data were collected using the Personal Information Form and the Workplace Spirituality Scale developed by Ünal and Turgut (2015). Workplace spirituality was assessed in four dimensions: passion for work, mysterious experience, spiritual connection and sense of community. The findings show that teachers generally have a high level of perception of workplace spirituality. While there was no significant difference in terms of gender, education level and school type variables, it was determined that female teachers had higher perceptions than male teachers in the sense of community dimension. In terms of length of professional service, it was observed that teachers with 11 years of experience or more had higher levels of work engagement. The study reveals that workplace spirituality is shaped by organizational culture and professional dynamics rather than demographic characteristics. It is emphasized that creating a spiritually enriching environment in educational institutions can contribute to institutional success by increasing teachers' job satisfaction, commitment and resilience levels. In this direction, it is recommended to increase social support programs, mentoring and professional development opportunities.
