Yamada Torajirō (1866-1957), “2010 Türkiye’de Japonya yılı etkinliklerinde adı en çok
anılan kişi olmuştur. Yamada’nın Türkiye’ye geliş sebebi, Türkiye üzerine yazdıkları, İstanbul
gözlemleri on dokuzuncu yüzyılda Japonya’nın Türkiye’ye bakışını da sergilemektedir. Bu
makalede bu belirtilen noktalar genel olarak ele alınmış ve Yamada Torajirō’nun Türkiye ile
ilişkisi incelenmiştir.
Yamada Torajirō (1866-1957) is the most mentioned person during the activities of
the “Japan Year 2010 in Turkey”. Yamada’s reason for coming to Turkey, his writings on
Turkey and his impressions of Istanbul reflect Japanese view of Turkey during the 19th
century. In this article, these points were taken into consideration along with discussions of
Yamada’s relationship with Turkey.
