Abstract

The study aims to examine the relationship between digital transformation and the profitability of the banking sector. In this context, panel cointegration and panel causality analysis were applied on annual data covering the period 2010-2020 in 20 developing countries. Return on assets (ROA) ratio was used for bank profitability, and for digital transformation, the number of ATMs per 100,000 adults, the number of commercial bank branches per 100,000 adults, the number of credit cards per 1,000 adults and the number of debit cards per 1,000 adults were used. Co-integration analysis results show that the variables do not move together in the long run. Although panel causality analysis results vary at the country level, they provide evidence that digital transformation affects bank profitability. Considering the findings obtained in the study, it can be said that the dissemination of digital products and services in the banking sector of developing countries will contribute to the financial performance of banks

GELİŞMEKTE OLAN ÜLKELERDE DİJİTAL DÖNÜŞÜM KARLILIK İLİŞKİSİ: BANKACILIK SEKTÖRÜNDE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Year 2024, , 135 - 144, 30.06.2024
https://doi.org/10.29106/fesa.1449043
