From Comprehensive Liberalism to Political Liberalism: Justification of Justice within the Domain of the Political

Abstract

John Rawls, with his A Theory of Justice, has become a prominent philosopher in the field of political philosophy. In addition, in his Political Liberalism, he provided a unique liberal approach. Political Liberalism justifies a theory of justice only within the limits of the domain of the political and responds to the concern over how to realize a stable just order in pluralistic democracies, which by these ways provides a unique place in political philosophy. This study discusses why and how a theory of justice need to be justified within the domain of the political and examines the main arguments of political liberalism
