Öz

Bu çalışmada Aristoteles ve Augustinus'un zamanın doğasıyla ilgili görüşlerini çözümlemek ve zamanla ilgili kimi sorunları açığa kavuşturmak amaçlanmıştır. Aristoteles zamana ilişkin görüşlerini Fizik adlı yapıtının IV. Kitabının 10. Bölümü 'nde sunar. Aristoteles ilk bakışta zamanın varlığını, onun ne olduğunu, kaç anlamda şimdiMan'dan söz ettiğimizi, bazen, son zamanlarda, demin ya da henüz, çok önce, ansızın ve benzeri şeylerin ne anlama geldiğini ele alır. Augustinus zaman konusundaki düşüncelerini, İtiraflar adlı yapıtının 11. Kitap, 12. Bölümü 'nde gözler önüne serer. Augustinus zamanda yaratma sorunu bakımından zaman kavramına bakar. Tanrı bu dünyayı yoktan yaratırken, zamanı da dünyayla aynı anda yaratmıştır. Bir tek tanrı ebedi olarak zamansız olduğu için, geçmiş ve geleceğin tanrının zamansız ebediliğinde hiçbir anlamı yoktur.

The Chief Doctrines of "Time" in The Ancient And Medieval Eras

Abstract

In this paper, I aim to analyse the ideas related to the nature of time and to reveal some problems akin to the time in Aristotle and St. Augustine. In his work called Physics in book IV, Chapter 10, Aristotle illustrates his version of time. At first sight, Aristotle examines that time exists and what it is and in how many senses we speak of the now and what sometime, lately, presently or just, long ago, suddenly and so on mean. St. Augustine sets forth his ideas on time in Book 11 and Chapter 12 of his book titled Confessions. St. Augustine looks into the conception of time in terms of creation in time. When God created the world, time was created with it Since only is God eternally timeless, past and future do not have any meaning in the timeless eternity of God
