Foucault, who named his early works as “archaeology” and “genealogy”, then put emphasis on ethics in his final Works. Foucault defines ethics as a “relationship of the self with itself”. According to him, people can constitute themselves as moral subjects. Individual’s practices that are used for constituting themselves as moral subjects are called “practices of the self” or “ascetic practice” by him. Foucault’s thought about ethics is based on Ancient Greek and Rome society. According to him, in Ancient Greek the main principle of ethics is “knowing thyself” and “taking care of the self”. In Ancient Greek ethics was related to “being free” and “art of life”. According to him modern day individuals can recreate his life by using some technologies of the self. Thus, he can convert his life into a beautiful work of art
