EFFECTS OF ENDURANCE TRAINING ON AEROBIC POWER

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of endurance training on development of endurance in long distance runners. 30 university students (aged 17-23 yrs) were assigned to either the experimental group or control group (15 per each group). Subjets in the experimental group were exposed to an endurance training program,three times per week for 8 weeks. The control group participated in a free activity program one time per week for an hour, Prior to training program all subjects were tested same field tests (12 min Cooper test and 5x30 sprint test) and skinfold thicknes were taken. At the end of the 8 weeks same test were performed again. Consequently the results of cooper tests shows significant difference between experimental and control group (P<0.01). Aerobic power development of experimental group statistically higher than control group (P<0,01). There was a significant difference the scores of 5x30 sprint test between experimental and control groups (P<0.01). According to Pre-test and post-test scores. Percent body fat of to groups was statistically different (P<0.05).
