RELATION OF SKIING IN ANCIENT SIBERIA-ALT AY REGION WITH LEGEND OF HİPPOPOD (HORSE-FOOTED MEN)
Abstract
The Concept of Hippopod-with meaning of word is Horse-footed men-which has an importance in the area of skiing researchs done in west has not rewieved yet in our country, idea of relations between skiing people and this concept which was used to describe Hippopod people that it was believed that they lived in earth and mentioned in anciend Greek and Roman terminology was appeared through 19th Century . Howeever identity and geographical region of these people-out of some prediction have not been yet cleared. In this study concepts which were used to identify proto-Türkish clans mentioned in early China Chronicles and developing line of Hippopod concept in west were evaluated. As a result, opinien that concept was in relation with "Horse-footed men", "wooden horses" which were used to describe skiing proto-Turkish clans by Chinese and it was carried to the west with silk-road.
