THE COMPARISON OF SOCIAL SKILL LEVELS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS' AND CLASSROOM TEACHERS' AT PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine and compare primary physical education and class teachers' social skill levels according to branches and gender. In pursuing this goal, 31 female and 55 male, with total 86 primary physical education teachers and 31 female and 55 male with total 86 classroom teachers which were working at center county of Zonguldak and Kdz. Eregli county participated in this study. Data was collected by using " Social Skill Scale " that developed by Riggio (1986) and it was adapted to Turkish by Yuksel (1998). It has 6 subscales. Mean, standart deviation and two way ANOVA for independent samples tests were used to analyze the data. Significant level was determined with .05. As a result of the study, there were a significant differences between physical education teachers' and classroom teachers' emotional expressionism, emotional sensitivity, social expressionism and total scores of according to branch, but there was not significant difference in subscales and total scores of social skill levels according to gender. As a result of the study, the social skill levels of male and female physical education teachers were higher than social skill levels of classroom teachers.
