Evaluation of the Relationship between Anaerobic Power and Repeated Change-of-Direction Ability of Futsal Players

Year 2016, Volume: 21 Issue: 1-4, 29 - 37, 01.12.2017

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate anaerobic power values and repeated
change-of-direction ability of futsal players. Twelve elite futsal players
(age: 27,25 ± 4,55, height: 172,58 ± 5,74, weight: 75,00 ± 9,69) participated
in the study voluntarily. Repeated Change-of-Direction (RCOD) test developed by
Wong. et al. (2012) was applied to determine the repeated change-of-direction
abilities of players. RCOD (6x20m with 25-seconds active recovery) test consisted
of four 100° change of direction at every 4m. Heart rates during and after the
test (1st and 3rd minutes recovery) were continuously
recorded. Twenty-four hours after the RCOD test, minimum, average and peak
anaerobic power of the players measured by Wingate test and the percentage of
performance decrement is calculated. The correlation of the two tests was
determined by the Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient. According to the
findings, there was a weak correlation between anaerobic peak power and best RCOD
time (r = -0.308, p> 0.05); very weak correlation between anaerobic mean
power and total RCOD times (r= -0.221, p> 0.05); and a weak correlation
between percentage of anaerobic power decrement and percentage of decrease in RCOD
(r = -0.343, p> 0.05). As a result, there was no significant relationship
between the anaerobic power values and repeated change-of-direction ability of
futsal players.

Futsal Oyuncularında Anaerobik Güç ile Tekrarlı Yön Değiştirme Yeteneği Arasındaki İlişkinin Değerlendirilmesi

Year 2016, Volume: 21 Issue: 1-4, 29 - 37, 01.12.2017
