Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the trends of the studies on the range of teaching methods used in physical education and sports teaching by bibliometric analysis. Bibliometric analysis, which is one of the quantitative research methods, constitutes the design of the research. By creating different word combinations through the Web of Science database, 42 studies scanned in the category of sports sciences were reached and these studies were exported in BibTeX format. For the study's statistical analysis, the biblio-metrix package of the R 4.2.2 (Core Team) programming language was preferred. According to the findings of the study, the author who published the most and received the most references on the subject area was Mark Byra; research is usually carried out in collaboration with three or more authors; the journal that accepts the most publications is the Journal of Teaching and Physical Education; It has been determined that words such as physical education, teachers, perceptions, students and knowledge are frequently preferred as keywords. In addition, it was concluded that more studies on motor skills are needed in the research area. This research provides important findings for the field of teaching methods spectrum and offers essential information for researchers and practitioners interested in the subject area. Researchers and field experts can review Mark Byra's work for research on the subject; evaluate the Journal of Teaching and Physical Education; use keywords such as education, teachers and students and explore the relationship between teaching methods and motor skills.
