Preservice Primary Science Teachers Misconceptions about Proteins, Enzymes and Protein Synthesis

Abstract

It has been known that ideas (of a concept of interest) different from their respective ones that are scientifically accepted, exist in students\' minds, and these ideas are very resistant against change. These ideas that are termed “misconceptions” need to be determined, analysed for their causes, and corrected at every learning level. The aim of this study is to determine the type and causes of the misconceptions of preservice primary science teachers about proteins, enzymes and protein synthesis. Based on the results of the study, suggestions for preventing and correcting certain misconceptions related to the topics are also provided.

Fen Bilgisi Öğretmen Adaylarının Proteinler, Enzimler ve Protein Sentezi ile İlgili Kavram Yanılgıları

Abstract

Öğrencilerin zihinlerinde araştırılan kavramla ilgili bilimsel olarak doğru kabul edilen düşünceden farklı düşüncelerin oluştuğu ve bunların da değişime çok dirençli olduğu bilinmektedir. Literatürde kavram yanılgısı olarak isimlendirilen bu düşüncelerin her öğretim düzeyinde tespit edilmesine, nedenlerinin araştırılmasına ve düzeltilmesine yönelik çalışmaların yapılması gerekmektedir. Bu araştırmada, Fen Bilgisi Öğretmen adaylarının proteinler, enzimler ve protein sentezi ile ilgili kavram yanılgılarının ve bunların nedenlerinin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular ışığında varolan kavram yanılgılarının önlenmesi ve giderilmesine yönelik öneriler verilmiştir.
