TIP FAKÜLTESİ ÖĞRENCİLERİNDE STRES, TÜKENMİŞLİK VE DEPRESYON

Abstract

Tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinde ruhsal sıkıntı, anksiyete, depresyon, intihar girişimi ve tükenmişlik düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu bilinmektedir. Akademik performans kaygıları, klinik sorumluluklar, hasta, hasta yakını ve fakülte ile kurulan iletişimde zorluklar, kişisel yaşam sorunları ortak stres faktörlerindendir. Bu yüksek hızlara rağmen tıp öğrencileri psikiyatrik yardım alma konusunda açık ve istekli değildirler. Ülkemizdeki çalışmalar genellikle kesitsel nitelikte olup depresyonun %10 ila 40 ‘lık bir prevalans ile önemli yer tuttuğunu belirtmektedir. Ruh sağlığı üzerinde olumsuz etki oluşturan faktörlerde ise kadın cinsiyet, düşük sosyoekonomik düzey, yurtta yaşamak, sigara kullanımı ve şiddete maruziyet görülmektedir. Özellikle birinci ve altıncı sınıflarda depresyon ve kaygı düzeylerinin yüksek olması bu sınıflarda koruyucu önlemlerin önemine dikkat çekmektedir. Gelecekte toplum sağlığını geliştirmek üzere hizmet verecek olan tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin, fakülteye başlangıcı ile mezuniyet dönemleri arasındaki değişkenlerin nedenselliğinin incelenmesi ve hatta mezuniyet sonrası ruh sağlığı ile ilgili prospektif çalışmalar yapılması kanıta dayalı etkin müdahale programlarının geliştirilmesini sağlayacaktır.
