Abstract

Nursing science continues to evolve within paradigms and frameworks supporting philosophical assumptions about the nature of knowledge, reality, and methodology. In the development process of the nursing discipline, questioning of whether nursing is a science or not, the transition processes from the biomedical model to the biopsychosocial model, and the necessity of a paradigm that encompasses the values, beliefs, and philosophy of nursing in a holistic way have brought up. In this review, the concept of paradigm in nursing was evaluated within the scope of the values, beliefs, methods, models, and inclusive worldview that members of a discipline share as a guide and boundary setter for research activities. This review aims to examine the concept of paradigm in nursing, the dominant paradigms of nursing, the transitions between them, and the use of multiparadigm for nursing within framework of literature. In the development of scientific knowledge in nursing practice, research, and education, it is important to understand nursing paradigms and to know their philosophical foundations to define the problems correctly, and to ensure the appropriateness of the measurements and the logical process. It is recommended to consider multiparadigm that provide the philosophy and ideologies of paradigms in nursing.

Hemşirelik Biliminde Paradigma Değişimleri ve Çoklu Paradigma Kullanımı
