Aim & Scope
The aim of the journal is to contribute to the discipline of history by publishing original works written in every field of history with scientific qualifications at national and international level.
History and Historian publishes original articles on Turkish and world history, qualified studies prepared by making use of many different disciplines that help history, scholarly papers and review articles, papers that have been previously presented in a scientific congress but not published (provided that the situation is stated), biographical studies of important people, reviews of books, archival documents and scientific activities such as symposiums and congresses.
Author Guidelines
Instructions for Authors:
1. The language of the journal is Turkish and English. The most recent edition of the spelling guide of Turkish Language Institution is taken into account for the spelling, punctuation and abbreviations of Turkish articles. The texts submitted should be clear and understandable, and be in line with scientific criteria in terms of language and expression. The Spelling Guide and Turkish Dictionary are available at http://www.tdk.gov.tr.
2. Articles should be written in Microsoft Program. A4 should be selected as the paper type. The type character should be “Times New Roman” and the font size should beset as 11 points. Line spacing should be1.15 and set as justified. There should be 6 nk (inches)space between the paragraphs (before-after) and footnotes should be written in 9 type size and with single line spacing.
3. Page layout (margins) should beset as top: 4 cm., bottom: 4 cm., right: 4 cm., left: 4 cm. The texts submitted to be published should be no longer than 25 pages including also the abstract and references.
4. The author must put his/her name and surname on the first page of the article with asterisk (*) and give his/her academic title, university, faculty, department, city/country, e-mail and ORCID information in 9 points, respectively.
5. The article must begin with the introduction, which explains the research question, hypothesis, purpose and method of the paper. Main titles and subtitles can be used in the text;
Main titles should be12 points, bold, flush left and only the first letter of each word is capitalized,
The second titles should be11 points, bold, flush left, and only the first letter of each word is capitalized,
The third titles should be11 points, bold, flush left, and only the first letter of each word is capitalized,
The fourth titles should be11 points, bold, flush left, and only the first letter of each word is capitalized.
6. Regardless of the text, the articles must contain abstracts in Turkish and English between 150-250 words and keywords in the range of 5-8 words. Abstracts and keywords should be placed right after the title.
7. In the text, direct quotations not exceeding five lines should be used in italics and “double quotes”. When a long citation (over three lines) is made from a source, it should be indented from the right and left (1 cm) from the paragraph indent and in 10 points. Statements that need to be emphasized are also italicized.
8. Abbreviations should be written clearly and abbreviated form in parentheses when shown for the first time, and only abbreviated form should be given in later screenings.
9. Numbers in the text should be spelled out if they are single digits, and larger numbers should be written as numerals.
10. At the end of the article, the results of the research should be evaluated in the “Conclusion” section.
11. The type character of footnotes should be Times New Roman, the font size should beset as 9 points and single-spaced. Its alignment should be justified and the paragraph indent should be 0.5 cm. References in the text should be numbered starting from 1 as footnotes at the bottom of the page. Other than that, it should not be cited in the text. When citing references in footnotes, the names of the books and journals should be italicized, and the names of the articles should be written in quotation marks. In footnotes, the full reference should be given in the first citation, then it should be written with abbreviations determined by the author. If more than one book or article by an author is used, after the first use of the second work, the surname of the author, followed by the full or abbreviated name of the book or article should be written. Where multi-author references are first mentioned, all authors should be written, and then abbreviated.

In encyclopedia articles and book chapters, the above-mentioned citation style examples are valid.
ARCHIVAL SOURCES:
In the use of archive documents, the full name of the relevant archive (local or foreign) and the collection name/code/file number/box number of the document used should be given in the first reference (e.g. Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives, Ministry of Interior, Kalem-i Mahsus Müdüriyeti). In this first use, if there is a standard abbreviation for the archive and document (considering archive guides), it should be used in parentheses, and this abbreviation should be taken as the basis for subsequent references (e.g. BOA., DH., KMS).

12. The sources used should be listed in alphabetical order (A-Z) and included in the bibliography section. The font size of the bibliography should be set as 10 points and flush left. The order of the works to be added to the bibliography should be as follows:

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
History and Historian publishes original articles on Turkish and world history, qualified studies prepared by making use of many different disciplines that help history, scholarly papers and review articles, papers that have been previously presented in a scientific congress but not published (provided that the situation is stated), biographical studies of important people, reviews of books, archival documents and scientific activities such as symposiums and congresses.
• Submitted articles must not have been published elsewhere, even in a different language.
• Submitted articles are evaluated by double-blind peer-review process after being reviewed by the editorial board.
• For the articles sent for evaluation, the referees are given a review period of 1 month, and this period is extended by 15 days if necessary.
• If a negative opinion is received from one of the referees, the article is sent to a third referee and the opinion of the third referee becomes decisive.
• The author should take into account the opinions and suggestions of the referees.
• This is followed by the editorial board. The editor can make changes on the spelling and wording of the articles when necessary. All responsibility for the content of the articles belongs to the author.
• Articles submitted to the journal must comply with the national and international ethical publication principles publication ethics.
• The responsibility of the articles sent to the journal in terms of publication ethics belongs to the authors.
• Scientific and legal responsibility for the views and opinions expressed in the articles belong to the author/authors and do not reflect the views of the journal and the institution.
• Authors cannot submit their works in more than one journal at the same time.
• All materials such as pictures, drawings, maps or documents used in the articles should be numbered and their explanations should be written below.
• In addition, if the ideas and artistic works of others are used in the articles, their compliance with the copyright regulations should be stated.
• Responsibility for the content and attachments of the articles (pictures, drawings, maps, documents, etc.) belongs to the author.The copyright of the published articles belongs to the journal. Copyright includes publication in the virtual platforms.
• Articles cannot be published elsewhere in print or electronically without the permission of the journal.

No fee is charged for the articles to be sent to the journal.

05.02.1970'de Edirne'de doğdu. ilk, orta ve lise eğitimini burada tamamladıktan sonra 1992 yılında Konya Selçuk Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Tarih Öğretmenliği bölümünden mezun oldu. İstanbul Üniversitesi Sosyal bilimler Enstitüsü Yakınçağ Tarihi Anabilim Dalında 1995'de Yüksek Lisansını tamamladıktan sonra, 2004'de de aynı anabilim dalında Doktor unvanını aldı. 1994 yılında intisap ettiği Trakya Üniversitesi'nde 2005 yılında Eğitim Fakültesi Türkçe ve Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği Bölümü Sosyal Bilgiler Eğitimi Anabilim Dalında Dr.Öğr.Üyesi, 2023 yılından itibaren de Doç.Dr. olarak görev yapmaktadır. Evli olan Doç.Dr. Sabri Can Sannav biri erkek diğeri kız olmak üzere iki çocuk babasıdır.
Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi Fatih Eğitim Fakültesi Tarih Öğretmenliği Bölümü’nden mezun oldu (1996). Yüksek lisans derecesini Gaziosmanpaşa Üniversitesi Yakınçağ Tarihi Dalı’ndan (2009), doktora derecesini de Gaziosmanpaşa Üniversitesi Yeniçağ Tarihi Dalı’ndan aldı (2014). Bayburt Üniversitesi’nde okutman olarak çalıştı (2009). Gaziosmanpaşa Üniversitesi Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Tarih Bölümü’ne öğretim görevlisi olarak atandı (2010). Doçentlik (2019) ve profesörlük (2025) unvanını Yakınçağ Tarihi alanında aldı . Hâlen Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa Üniversitesi Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Tarih Bölümü öğretim üyesidir. Temel çalışma alanları kent tarihi, Osmanlı tarihi, Avrupa tarihi, ulaşım ve haberleşme tarihi, seyyahlar ve seyahatnamelerdir. Yazarın ilk kitabı 2013’te Türk Tarih Kurumu tarafından yayımlanan 1812-1813 Tarihli (16 Numaralı) Tokat Şer’iye Sicili başlığını taşımaktadır.

He was born in Ankara in 1983. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Languages, History, and Geography, Department of History, in 2007. Between 2008 and 2011, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Department of History, Faculty of Letters, Muğla University. From 2011 to 2017, he served in the same capacity at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of History. Since 2018, he has been working at Süleyman Demirel University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of History. His research focuses on General Turkish History, Caucasian History, and Russian History.
Arshi Khan teaches Political Science now and taught International Relations in the past. He is in the Advisory Board of five Peer-Reviewed Journals published from foreign countries. His M.Phil dissertation is about Turkey-Greece Relations with reference to Cyprus and Ph.D thesis about Turkish Democracy and Political Parties in Turkey from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He studied Political Science (Aligarh Muslim University), Human Rights (Hyderabad University), Democracy and Federalism (Institue of Federalism, University of Fribourg, Switzerland). He learnt Turkish language in TOMER, Ankara University, Turkey. He was at the New York University, USA as Fulbright Fellow. He has been Resource person to national and international institutions. Since 1989 he has been writing on the several issues related to democracy, human rights, state system, political stability, security and conflicts in Middle East and South Asia. In February 2013, he delivered two Lectures on Federalism and Fundamental Rights in India: Religious and Linguistic Rights, at the Faculty of Law and School of Political Science and Sociology, Leopold-Franzens University, Innsbruck, Austria on the invitation of the international School of Federalism and Governance 2013, (European Academy, Italy) under the auspices of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr Thorbjørn Jagland. Earlier, he was associated with the Centre for Federal Studies, New Delhi. He worked on India's federal polity, the issue of the Muslim minority community, violence and discrimination. He has also contributed to newspapers as a political analyst on different aspects of International Relations. He edited two books--Federalism, Democracy and Conflict Resolution (New Delhi: Macmillan, 2012). Arshi Khan, ed., Exclusion of Muslims in India Participation, Tolerance and Legitimacy of the State (New Delhi: Genuine Publications and Media Pvt. Ltd., 2018). His papers are published in over 14 Books edited in India and in over 14 Books edited in USA, UK, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Cyprus, Turkey, UAE, and Iraq. He is accredited with 4 Monographs, over 18 refereed and indexed National and International Journals, over 33 long and research articles in the Mainstream, over 180 articles/analyses in The Telegraph, The Pioneer, The Hindu, The Indian Express and Jordan Times (Amman). He was columnist in Daily Rashtriya Sahara (New Delhi) for two years. He presented over 16 papers in conferences in India and 17 papers abroad. He has delivered over 90 Lectures in India and over 15 Lectures in Switzerland, UAE, Iraq, Thailand and Malaysia. He contributed to TV channels and Radio (India and Abroad, including the BBC Asia Network) over 550 times. He also visited Turkey under the Cultural Exchange Programme of the UGC, and visited the US as a Short-term Fulbright Fellow. He has visited 22 countries.

Doç. Dr. GALİP ÇAĞ
1979 yılında Adapazarı’nda doğdu. Aslen Makedonya, Kırçovalıdır. Adapazarı’nda, Hakkı Demir İlkokulu, Mithatpaşa Ortaokulu ve Arifiye Anadolu Öğretmen Lisesi’ni bitirdi. Gazi Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi Tarih Bölümü’nde lisans, Sakarya Üniversitesi’nde de yüksek lisans (Yeniçağ) ve doktora (Tarih Anabilim Dalı) eğitimlerini tamamladı. 217. Nolu Tapu Tahrir Defterine Göre Paşa Sancağı ve 16.-17. Yüzyıllarda Osmanlı Hâkimiyetinde Manastır (Bitola) başlıklı tezleri hazırladı. Sakarya, Çankırı Karatekin ve Gazi Üniversitelerinde bölüm başkanlığı ve anabilim dalı başkanlıkları yanında dekan yardımcılığı görevlerini yürüttü. Başta Balkanlar olmak üzere tarihin farklı alanlarına dair dersler verdi. Birçok makale ve 6 adet akademik kitap kaleme aldı. Halen Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi, Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi, Tarih Bölümü, Yeniçağ Anabilim Dalı’nda lisans, yüksek lisans ve doktora aşamalarında dersler vermektedir. Halen, Ankara’da yaşamaktadır.

Ayrıca; “Bisiklet Dağı” öyküsü Sakarya Büyükşehir Belediyesi, Sait Faik Abasıyanık Öykü Yarışması(2021) Mansiyon Ödülüne layık görülmüştür.

Doç. Dr. Sefer SOLMAZ 1990 yılında Ankara Üniversitesi Dil ve Tarih-Coğrafya Fakültesi Tarih Bölümü’nde mezun oldu. 1993 yılında Selçuk Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Tarih Anabilim Dalı Ortaçağ Tarihi Bilim Dalı’nda “Halîfet Gazi ve Halîfet-zâdeler” adlı teziyle Yüksek Lisansı bitirdi. 1992 yılında ortaöğretimde Tarih Öğretmeni olarak görev yaptı. 1994 yılında Selçuk Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi Tarih Bölümünde Ortaçağ Tarihi Araştırma Görevliliğine atandı. 2001 yılında Selçuk Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Tarih Anabilim Dalı Ortaçağ Tarihi Bilim Dalı’nda “Danişmendliler Devleti ve Kültürel Mirasları” adlı teziyle doktorasını tamamladı. 1996 yılından itibaren Öğretim Görevlisi olarak İslam Öncesi Türk Tarihi ve Ortaçağ Türk-İslâm Tarihi alanında dersler vermeye başladı 2010 yılında Genel Türk Tarihi Anabilim Dalı’nda Dr. Öğr. Üyesi oldu. 2012 yılında YÖK Bursu ile gittiği İngiltere’nin başkenti Londra’da School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) Kütüphanesi ve British Library’de araştırmalarda bulundu. 2020 yılında Ortaçağ Tarihi Anabilim Dalı’nda Doçent oldu. Selçuklu Tarihi ve Medeniyeti ile ilgili düzenlenen “II. Uluslararası Selçuklu Kültür ve Medeniyeti Selçuklularda Bilim ve Düşünce Sempozyumu” (2011), “Uluslararası Selçuklular ve Haçlılar Sempozyumu” (2016), “Uluslararası Selçuklu Tarihi ve Tarihçiliğinin Temel Meseleleri (2019) yılında “Uluslararası Anadolu’nun İrfan Çağı (XIII-XIV. Yüzyıllar) Sempozyumu” gibi bilimsel toplantılarda düzenleme kurulu üyesi ve editör olarak görev aldı. Ayrıca Türk Sultanları/Büyük Selçuklu Ar-Ge Projesi’nde “araştırmacı” (2021), Türkiye Selçuklu Sultanları Külliyatı (Saltanat Dönemleri ve Akademik Alana Tanıtımları) Yayın Ar-Ge Projesi’nde “cilt editörü (cilt proje yürütücüsü) ve araştırmacı” (2022), Türkiye Selçuklu Sultanları Ar-Ge Projesinde ise “proje yürütücüsü ve araştırmacı” (2023) olarak görev yaptı.Selçuklular, Müslüman Türk Devletleri, İlk Anadolu Beylikleri konularında çalışmalar yapmakta olup bunlarla ilgili çeşitli kitap, makale, bildiri ve ansiklopedi maddeleri bulunmaktadır.
