History Studies is an international peer-reviewed academic journal that provides a platform for original research characterised by methodological innovation and conceptual depth. The journal publishes analytical research articles that advance ongoing scholarly debates and contribute to the evolution of historical scholarship. Rather than descriptive or purely compilatory studies, History Studies prioritises submissions built around a clearly defined research question and a robust analytical framework.
The journal’s principal areas of interest include social history, historical demography and family history, state–society relations, and the digital humanities. While the journal welcomes contributions from all historical periods and geographical regions, it requires that they offer a meaningful contribution to the field.
Studies employing comparative perspectives, microhistorical approaches, and interdisciplinary methodologies—particularly those engaging with the digital humanities—are encouraged.
Submissions that do not employ historical methods and analysis, or those that remain strictly within the methodological boundaries of neighbouring disciplines such as archaeology, art history, or political science, are considered outside the scope of the journal.
