Günümüzdeki Bilimsel Yöntem Tartışmaları Işığında “Din Bilimleri” Kavramı

Year 2013, Volume: 12 Issue: 24, 5 - 28, 30.12.2013
https://doi.org/10.14395/jdiv115

Abstract

The concept of “Religious Sciences” in the light of Contemporary Discussions on the Methodology of Science

Year 2013, Volume: 12 Issue: 24, 5 - 28, 30.12.2013

Abstract

Some philosophers think that there is a controversy or at least a disharmony between religious knowledge and the scientific method. People who think like this way usually maintain that religious subjects cannot be held by scientific methods. And they criticize the scientific approaches in religious studies. Such objections and criticisms can be both made by profound circles and religious thinkers. On the other hand, in the mean time, we heart frequently the term “religious sciences” from the members of theology faculties in Turkey. At this point, the main philosophical problem we have encountered is whether the scientific approach can be possible to religious subjects which are commonly accepted as belonging to area of values and beliefs. According to the mentioned context, this article seeks to answer the following questions: Firstly, is a scientific approach to religious subjects possible? Second; is it necessary and willing thing to take into consideration of religious subjects with a scientific approach?
