Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Publication ethics
The author(s) should write, sign and send a paper which reports that the study was not published or is not in the process of being published in elsewhere and that the authors are taking all the responsibility of the study. Falsification of data, plagiarism or publication without proper citation are all unacceptable and are the reasons for rejection of publication. Journal of Istanbul Veterinary Sciences adhere to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follow the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers. International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) recommendations are taken into account in articles submitted to the journal.

Complaints and appeals
Authors who wish to appeal a rejection or make a complaint should, in the first instance, send an appeal letter to the Editor in Chief. The letter should contain detailed information about appeal or complaint subject. In such a case, the chief editor assigns one of the editors or one of the editorial board members to examine the subject as soon as possible. If necessary, an external expert may be assigned as ombudsman to investigate the problem. But the Editor in Chief is the final authority in the decision-making process for all appeals and complaints. The journal adheres to COPE guidelines while examining the appeals and complaints.

Care and use of animals

If animals are used in the study, the author (s) must declare in the materials and methods section the manuscript is in compliance with the institutional or international animal care and use guidelines. A manuscript containing information that suggests animals were subjected to adverse, stressful, or harsh conditions or treatments will not be considered for publication. The Editor retains the right to reject manuscripts on the base of animal welfare concerns.
