Journal of Istanbul Veterinary Sciences is an open access international journal dedicated to publishing high quality articles in all branches of veterinary sciences.The journal is published only electronically, there is no printed version. This journal with double-blinded peer review process serves as a platform to veterinarians, students, scientists, and other researcher who have interest in animal research and veterinary science.

The journal publishes original research articles, short communications, case report, letter to the editor and review articles in English. It covers anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, parasitology, virology, pathology, clinical sciences, biomedical, genetics, animal breeding, reproduction, animal nutrition and feeding, animal welfare and behavior, food hygiene and technology, livestock economics, poultry production and diseases, exotic animals, fisheries and aquatic sciences. Papers relating to veterinary education, ethics, and public health are also within the scope of Journal of Istanbul Veterinary Sciences.

A manuscript containing information that suggests animals were subjected to adverse, stressful, or harsh conditions or treatments will not be considered for publication. The journal retains the right to reject manuscripts on the base of animal welfare concerns.

Journal of Istanbul veterinary sciences presents high visibility for authors work by indexing in lots of indexing sites and also provides free access to a broad readership with enhanced web page. All published articles in the Journal of Istanbul Veterinary Sciences will be assigned with unique Digital Objective Identifier (DOI) provided by CrossRef. And archived by the LOCKSS system, which is guarantee long-term digital preservation of the paper. There are no submission or article processing charges in Journal of Istanbul Veterinary Sciences.

Publication Frequency

The journal is published three times per year (End of the April, end of the August, end of the December). Without waiting for the ıssue, accepted publications are published online under the next issue.

Peer review process

The review processes of the submitted articles are carried out in accordance with the principles of the "double-blind review process”. All manuscripts submitted to the journal are initially reviewed by the editorial office. At this stage, manuscripts may be rejected without peer review if it is not suitable to the journal’s scope or formatting requirements. If appropriate, the manuscript will be sent at least two external, independent peer reviewers who are experts in their fields. If both the referees report negative opinions; the article is rejected at this stage. Otherwise, the process continues, and the manuscript will be sent back to the corresponding author for revision. Authors have 3 weeks to complete the revision. At the end of the review process, the final decision will be made by the editors of the journal on the basis of reviewers’ reports. The originality, quality, and impact of the study will be taken into consideration in the final decision. The publication and referee processes of the journal are formed in accordance with the guidelines of the InternationalCommittee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and World Association of MedicalEditors (WAME).

History of Journal

Journal of Istanbul Veterinary Sciences (JIVS) was established in 2007, and was first published under the name of "Istanbul Veteriner Bilimleri Dergisi". After its first 3 issues were published, the publication of JIVS was suspended until 2017. It has been decided to republish JIVS as it would contribute to the dissemination of academic information in veterinary sciences.  The journal has been started to re-publish in 2017 under its new name "Journal of Istanbul Veterinary Sciences", and with the eISSN: 2602-3490.

Previous name of Journal: İstanbul Veteriner Bilimleri Dergisi, ISSN: 1306-679x,  Published 2007-2018 (Issue 1, Issue 2 and Issue 3).
