Abstract

Fatma Neşe Karel starts to take part in Turkish literature with her first stories written in 1975. Expressing that the source of her stories was experiences, impressions and fables she listened to in her childhood, Karel mostly wrote short stories and give voice to the themes of loneliness, longing, sadness etc. Just as the events take place in Antalya, Bursa, İstanbul, Ankara etc. cities, especially Germany, the Netherlands and America also take place in the stories. In her stories, Karel call attention to the problems brought about by migration and migration, and mostly addressed the theme in question in the women’s center. The aim of the study is to discuss the phenomenon of external migration in the 22 story of Karel, who is the daughter of an immigrant family and worked as a worker in Germany for a short time, and to determine the author’s approach to migration and perspective. Although the labor migrations to Germany are mainly expressed in the stories, the suffering of exiles and refugees are also described, and the phenomenon of migration is not approached unilaterally. In this direction, the phenomenon of migration in our study will be evaluated with the document analysis method under the headings of labor migration, migration through marriage, exile, political refugees. It has been seen that Germany, which is seen as a door of hope, is also perceived as an exile and a place of escape for women, and Karel executed strong, successful, struggling, patient image of a woman no matter what and didn’t hesitate to criticize women when appropriate.
