TİYATRO ESERLERİ ÇEVİRMENİNİN ROLLERİ (THE ROLES OF A DRAMA TRANSLATOR)

Bu çalışmada, tiyatro eserlerinin çevirisinde ve sahnelenmesinde çevirmenin rolüne odaklanılmakta ve bir çevirmen olarak, Devlet Tiyatroları Repertuvarında yer alan iki farklı oyunun çevirilerinin sahneleniş süreçleri anlatılmaktadır. İlk bölümde, tiyatro eserlerinin yapısı ve dili üzerinde durulmuş, bunlar çevirmen ve çeviri edimi açısından irdelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde çeviribilimde, tiyatro eserlerinin çevirisine dair kuram ve uygulamaya ilişkin görüşler paylaşılmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde, tiyatro eserlerinin çevirisindeki zorluklara değinilmiştir. Tiyatro eserlerinin hem yazınsal eserler hem de sahnelenecek metinler olmasının çeviri sürecine yüklediği zorluklardan söz edilmiştir. Bu bölümde özellikle çeviri edimini şekillendirecek ve yönlendirecek kavram ve düşüncelere yer verilmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde, çevirmenin, çevireceği eseri seçimi, çeviri süreci ve sahnelenmeden önceki prova aşamasındaki konumu ve işlevleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu bölümde, ilk olarak, Türkiye’de bir çevirmenin tiyatro çevirmenliği yapmak istediği takdirde, bir tiyatro metinine nasıl erişebileceği; eseri çevirmeye karar vermeden önce nelere dikkat etmesi gerektiği; bir tiyatro eserini çevirmek için telifini almak için neler yapması gerektiği gibi konulara değinilmiştir. Daha sonra çeviri sürecinin nasıl şekillenebileceği ve yürütülebileceği örneklenmiştir. Bunu takiben tiyatro eserini sahneleyen ekibin bir parçası olarak, çevirmenin okuma ve sahne provalarında ve son olarak da sahnelenişte konumunun ne olabileceğine dair bilgi paylaşılmıştır.  Amaç, tiyatro çevirisinde ve çeviri tiyatro eserlerinin sahnelenme sürecinde, çevirmenin, oyunu sahneleyen ekiple işbirliğinin ne kadar verimli olabileceğini ve bu işbirliğinin nasıl şekillenebileceğini, Türkiye’den örneklerle betimlemektir.

THE ROLES OF A DRAMA TRANSLATOR

Abstract: This study concentrates on the role of the translator of drama and during the staging process, and entails a recitation of the staging processes of two translated plays in the Turkish State Theatre Repertoire. The first part of the study focuses on the structure and language used in drama from the translator perspective. The second section entails drama translation theories and applications in translation studies. The third part is an overview of the difficulties in drama translation, as well as a discussion of the major concepts used by translators to guide them in the translation process. The fourth section provides information about the choice of text to translate, the translation process itself, and the role and function of the translator in the rehearsal and staging processes. In this section, the focus is on how a translator can find a play to translate, procure the translation copyrights, what the translator should keep in mind when deciding to translate a play. Following a brief section on the translation process, the experiences and information concerning the status and role of the translator in the staging of two plays are detailed. The aim is to relay the benefits of working as a team including the director, the actors and the drama translator in the translation and staging process of a play and providing information about how this could be achieved in the Turkish example.
