Opening the Door: An Examination of Mother Tongue Use in Foreign Language Classrooms
Abstract
Bu çalışma yabancı dil eğitiminde öğrencilerin ana dilinin rolünün tekrar gözden geçirilmesinin gerekliliğine dikkat çekmektedir. Son yüz yılda anadilin yabancı dil öğretiminde kullanımı ile ilgili olarak farklı kavramsal düşünce okulları tarafından ortaya atılmış olan görüşlerin kısa bir özeti sunulmakta ve İngilizce öğretiminde anadilin kullanılmasının ne zaman faydalı olup olmayacağının örnekleri verilmektedir. Yazar, planlı kullanılması şartı ile öğrencilerin anadilinin yabancı dil öğrenim ve öğretimini kolaylaştıracak faydalı bir kaynak olduğu ve yabancı dil öğrenimine engel teşkil edecek bir faktör olarak görülmemesi gerektiği fikrini desteklemektedir
