Abstract

Objective: The aim of the study was to determine nursing students' opinions related to scenario/computerized simulation method's usage in skill education. Materials and Method: Semi-structured focus group interviews containing six questions were used in this study. Sampling constituted 24 voluntary students of a nursing school and three focus group interviews were conducted with each of groups that included 8 students. Results: Majority of students stated that skill development training in laboratory and classroom environment before the clinical practice were useful. However; they though that pre-clinical education was insufficient due to using un-programmable manikins at the skill laboratory and inadequate number of manikins per student. Most students stated that they felt incompetent at the skill practices during clinical practice at the hospital; therefore they experienced problems with nurses, patients and health team members. Conclusion: Owing to student's positive opinions toward usage of simulation teaching strategies and this educational strategy will contribute to improvement in students' clinical skills, students can practice with self-confidence and consequently contribute to educate selfconfident nurses.

Simülasyon Yöntemine İlişkin Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Görüşleri

Abstract

Amaç: Çalışma, hemşirelik öğrencilerin senaryo/bilgisayarlı simülasyon yönteminin beceri eğitiminde kullanımına ilişkin görüşlerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmada yarı yapıla ndırılmış altı soruyu içeren odak grup görüşme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Örneklem grubuna bir hemşirelik okulunun 2. sınıf lisans öğrencilerinden 24 gönüllü öğrenci seçilmiş ve her grupta 8 öğrenci olmak üzere toplam 3 odak grup görüşmesi yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin çoğunluğu klinik ortama çıkmadan önce oluşturulan laboratuar ve dershane ortamında verilen beceri geliştirme uygulamalarının kendilerine yararlı olduğunu ifade etmişlerdir. Ancak öğrenciler beceri geliştirme alanlarında bulunan maketlerin eski ve programlanamayan modelde olması ve maketlerin öğrenci sayısına göre yetersiz sayıda kalması nedeniyle klinik öncesi eğitimin eksik kaldığını düşünmektedirler. Öğrencilerin çoğunluğu kliniğe çıktıklarında, beceri uygulaması konusunda kendilerini yetersiz hissettiklerini ve bu nedenle de hasta, hemşire ve diğer ekip üyeleri ile sorun yaşadıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Sonuç: Simülasyon öğretim yöntemlerinin kullanılmasına yönelik öğrencilerin olumlu görüşlerinin olması ve bu eğitim yöntemin öğrencilerin klinikte becerilerinin geliştirilmesine katkıda bulunacağından dolayı klinik ortamda kendinden emin girişimlerde bulunabilecekleri ve dolayısıyla öz güvenli hemşirelerin yetişmesine katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.
