Iğdır University Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences  (Igdir iibf dergisi) aims to contribute to science and humanity by publishing and announcing original scientific research and review articles prepared or conducted in the fields of the departments operating under the faculties of economics and administrative sciences and related disciplines. 

Secondly, the journal aims to increase academic awareness on issues related to gender inequalities, especially violence against women, and global problems such as combating climate change.

The third aim of the journal is to draw attention to the economic, political and social context of problems concerning poverty, deprivation, inequality and social justice. In this framework, special importance and priority are given to manuscripts that include a political economy perspective.

Studies presented in congresses, the abstracts of which were published before, can be submitted by specifying these qualifications. However, research articles written in English and containing in-depth analysis and methodology (qualitative/quantitative research) are prioritised. Studies in English derived from master's theses or PhD dissertations are also accepted. The submitted manuscripts should not have been published before or should not be under review by another journal.

Manuscripts in the following fields are included in the scope of publication of Iğdır University Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences: Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, Economics, Business Administration, which are the primary departments of economics and administrative sciences; Aviation Management, Health Management, Logistics Management, Local Governments which are developed as branches of primary fields of economics and administrative sciences; interdisciplinary studies in related fields of humanities such as Law, Sociology, Psychology, History.

In addition to original scientific research articles and review articles, the journal may include translations of articles and book reviews in these fields when deemed necessary.

Font and Page Layout

Manuscripts submitted to Iğdır University Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences should be written in Microsoft Word environment using Times New Roman font, 12 pt and single line spacing. Page structure should be A4 and margins (right-left, top-bottom) should be 2.5 cm. Page numbers should be located at the bottom centre of the page. Manuscripts that do not comply with the aforementioned form requirements are returned to their authors without being sent to the referees. The rate provided by a plagiarism detection program can be a maximum of 20%, plagiarism report should be uploaded to the MTS together with the article.

Length
The length of manuscripts submitted for publication should not exceed 8,000 words or 20 pages, including appendices and references. However, if the Editor and/or Editorial Board deems appropriate, longer articles may be included in the evaluation process.

Cover page
The cover page of the manuscripts should include the following information about the author (s):
- Title of the article,
- Name (s) and title of the author (s),
- The institution to which the author (s) belongs,
- Author (s) ORCID ID information (s),
- Contact information of the author (s) (Full mailing address, telephone and fax number, e-mail address),
- Other relevant notes with the persons and/or institutions that were thanked in the study.
On the cover page, the title of the article should be written centred on the page in bold letters with the first letters of the words capitalized. Similarly, the names and surnames of the authors and their contact information should be written centred on the page with only the first letters in capital letters.
In case the number of authors is more than one, the author who will provide the communication between the Journal Editor and the authors should be specified. If the author to be contacted is not specified, the author sending the article to the Journal is contacted.
The cover page should be arranged separately from the article and sent to the system as a separate file.

Article
Article file with author information; article title, abstract, keywords, introduction, main text, results, bibliography and appendices. The article should be sent to the system as a separate file. The following order should be followed in the articles submitted to the journal:
- Title,
- Abstract and keywords,
- Login,
- Main text,
- Conclusion,
- Explanatory notes (if any),
- References and
- Additions (if any).

Title
The main title of the manuscript should be compatible with the content and should not be longer than 12 words. The title should be centred on the page in boldface, with the first letters of the words capitalized. For articles in Turkish, the title should be written in English and for articles in Turkish, the title should be written in Turkish.

Abstract and Keywords
At the beginning of the article, abstracts of a minimum of 150 and a maximum of 200 words should be written in Turkish and English. In summary; aim, method, findings and result information should be taken into consideration. Turkish and English abstracts should not be cited or abbreviated.
At least three (3) keywords that best describe the subject should be written in Turkish and English, leaving one line under the abstracts.

Main Text and Section Titles
The main text should be written in Times New Roman with 12 font size and justified. A single paragraph spacing (6 pt) should be given before and after the paragraph. The first lines of the paragraphs should start from 1 cm inside. The main headings and sub-headings of the manuscript should be numbered starting from the Introduction (except the bibliography) in a decimal form such as 1., 1.1., 1.1.1. Sub-distinction should be opened up to the third level (such as 1.2.4) in the text, and if necessary, the headings at the lower level should be written in italic and bold without giving a number. Only the first letter of all titles should be capitalized and written in bold. 12 nk, then 6 nk spaces should be left before the titles.

Tables and Figures
Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively (such as Table 1, Table 2, Figure 1) and should be located in the text. Table and figure captions should be written at the top of the table or figure and the bibliography of the table or figure should be written at the bottom. Tables and figures should be placed with their heads centred in the text. There should be a line title between tables and figures and text. Table, figure, etc. The text must be between 9-11 points. Table or data that disrupts the flow can be placed as “Appendix” at the end of the study.

Mathematical Equations and Formulas
Mathematical equations and formulas in the text should be centred. Mathematical expressions should be given a sequence number and the sequence numbers should be justified to the right of the page in parentheses. There should be a space between the equation and the text (6 nk).

Referencing

Citations should be made in the text in accordance with the APA (American Psychological Association) citation format. When referring to the references, the surname of the authors, the date of publication and the page number should be indicated if one-to-one is quoted. If the surname of the author (s) is used in the sentence, only the date of publication in parentheses after the name is sufficient. When referring to the works with two authors, the surnames of both authors should be written. When the manuscripts are cited for the first time, the surnames of all authors should be written. Subsequent references to the same source should include only the surname of the first author and “et al... In the references cited for six or more authors, the surname of the first author should be written and et al. should be used in the first place in the text and in the following references. If more than one work of the author (s) has been cited in the same year, references such as a, b, c, etc. should be written at the end of the publication year. If more than one study is referred to at the end of the sentence, these references should be listed in parentheses on the publication date and a semicolon (;) should be placed between them.

Examples of References in the Text

 Bilici, Mete, Soylu, Bekaroğlu and Kavakçı (1998) investigated the relationship between burnout level and demographic characteristics. Bilici et al. (1998) found that demographic characteristics such as age, gender and marital status affect burnout.

The results of previous studies confirm the hypothesis that there is a relationship between high job satisfaction and low burnout level (Dolan, 1987; Penn, Romano and Foat, 1988; Rocca and Konstanski, 2001; Sobreques et al., 2003).

Explanatory Notes

Explanatory (final) notes in the text should be placed at the end of the article before the bibliography and should be written according to the order in the text (1, 2, 3, etc.).

References

APA citation style is used in the journal. The bibliography should be started from the page where the article ends and the works should be written in alphabetical order according to the last name. All references in the text should be cited in the bibliography; References that are not referenced should not be included in the bibliography. If more than one work of the same author (s) is cited, the publication date should start from the oldest. If more than one work of the author (s) is cited, references should be listed in the bibliography section by using the letters (a, b, c,…) after the publication date. If a single and multiple author work is cited, a single author should be written first. The page numbers of the articles published in the journals and chapters of the edited books must be written.

Iğdır University Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences is a peer-reviewed journal operating within the ethical principles and rules stated below to publish qualified scientific research.

Original scientific research and reviews submitted to the Iğdır University Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences are evaluated by a double-open peer-review process and published electronically free of charge. All components of the scientific publication process—publisher, editors, authors, referees, and readers—must comply with the ethical principles that apply at all stages of the journal publication process.

The Ethical Principles and Publication Policy of the Iğdır University Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences are in line with the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All components of the publication process are required to comply with ethical principles stated, for example, in “Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors” and “COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors”.

In the articles sent to the journal for publication, in case of detection of plagiarism, fabrication, deception, distortion, manipulation, this situation will be reported to the author’s institution, and the article will be rejected. If deemed necessary by the journal, editors or referees, reserves the right to request data files regarding the analysis results from the authors.

Ethical Responsibilities of Author(s):

The articles submitted to the Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Iğdır University should be about scientific studies in the journal’s fields.

All sources used in articles (authors, online pages, personal interviews, etc.) should be cited accurately and appropriately.

The originality rate (with the exception of bibliography - 9 or more word matches) should not exceed 20%, and a report showing the situation should be attached.

It should be stated that the articles sent to the journal were not sent to another journal, and the Author Contributions and Conflict of Interest Declaration Form should be filled.
Persons who do not contribute intellectually to the article should not be mentioned as authors.

Conflicts of interest regarding the submitted manuscript should be stated, and the reason should be explained.

Authors may be required to submit raw data regarding their work to the editorial board while in the peer review process, in which case the authors are expected to share their raw data with the editorial board.

Authors are obliged to keep the data of a published article for five years.

When authors detect an error in their work, they should inform the editor and the editorial board and cooperate to correct or withdraw.

The authors should state that they received ethics committee approval for research that requires data collection using quantitative or qualitative methods such as experiments, questionnaires, scales, interviews, observations, and focus group studies that require an ethics committee decision. This should be specified in the method section, and the document showing the ethics committee’s decision should be uploaded to the system.

Authors should present in the article evidence that they pay attention to ethical principles in the data collection process (such as obtaining their permission to use other people’s documents such as scales, questionnaires, photographs). It should be stated in the articles that research and publication ethics and copyright regulations for intellectual and artistic works are complied with. If the research was carried out on human and animal subjects, it should be stated that it was carried out according to international reports, guidelines, etc.

Ethics committee approval is not required from authors for review articles. However, articles that do not require an ethics committee decision should be stated on the first-last page of the article and in the method section that an ethics committee decision is not required.

In terms of ethical rules; the situations requiring Ethics Committee Permission for the researches to be evaluated in the journal are as follows:

  • Any research carried out with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using survey, interview, focus group work, observation, experiment, interview techniques,
  • Use of humans and animals (including material/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,
  • Clinical researches on humans,
  • Researches on animals,
  • Retrospective studies in accordance with the law of protection of personal data.

In this context, in the studies to be evaluated in our journal;

  • In the case reports, it is stated that the “informed consent form” was taken,
  • Obtaining and expressing permission from the owners for the use of scales, surveys, and photographs belonging to others,
  • It should be noted that the copyright regulations are complied with for the ideas and works of art used.

Ethical Responsibilities Regarding Reviewers/Referees:

The double-open peer-review process evaluates all articles in the Journal of Iğdır University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Reviewers and authors can be aware of each other. The referees are required to fill in an evaluation form that includes the decisions regarding the contribution of the article to science and whether the paper is suitable for publication, and the reasons for these decisions.
Referees are only required to review the articles related to their field of expertise.
Reviewers are expected to agree to arbitrate articles that do not have conflicts of interest.
When reviewers realize any conflict of interest, they should inform the editor and refuse to review the relevant article.
The referees should evaluate the articles impartially and objectively.
The referees are required to fill in the Referee Evaluation Form for the articles they evaluate. They are expected to mention their names in the forms. In this form, the referees are required to state their decision on whether the article they are evaluating is publishable and the reasons for their decision.
The style used by the referees in their suggestions should be polite, respectful and scientific.
Referees should avoid offensive, disrespectful and subjective personal comments.
When it is determined that the referees make such non-scientific comments, they can be contacted by the editor or the editorial board to review and correct their remarks.
The referees are required to complete their evaluations within the time given to them and are expected to comply with the ethical responsibilities set forth herein.


Ethical Responsibilities for Editors:

COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors published by COPE bind the editors.

The editor is responsible for all articles published in the journal. The ethical duties and responsibilities of the editor are as follows:

General Responsibilities
The editor is responsible for increasing the quality of the journal and contributing to its development.
The editor is required to support the freedom of expression of the authors.
Relationships with Readers
The editor should make sure that the sections in the journal that do not require peer-review (letter to the editor, invitations, conference announcements, etc.) are clearly indicated.
The editor should make an effort to match the published articles with the knowledge and skills of the journal readers.
Relations with Referees
The editor should ask the referees to evaluate the articles according to their knowledge and expertise. Thus, it should be ensured that experts in the field appropriately assess the articles.
The editor is obliged to request that the referees state no conflicts of interest regarding the article before evaluating a paper.
The editor must convey to the referees all necessary information regarding the referee evaluation process and what the referees are expected to do.
The editor should ensure that the peer-review process is carried out with double-open peer-review and can disclose the referees to the authors and the authors to the referees.
The editor should evaluate the referees according to their timing and performance.
The editor should create a database of referees and update the database according to the performance of the referees.
The editor should remove the referees who make rude and unqualified comments or return late from the referee list.
The editor should constantly renew and expand the list of referees according to the referees’ fields of expertise.
Relations with Authors
The editor should constantly update the editorial and writing guidelines and the sample template as to the authors’ expectations.
The editor should evaluate the articles submitted to the journal in terms of journal writing rules, the importance of the work, and originality. If he decides to reject the paper during the first submission process, he should clearly and impartially convey to the authors the reason for this. During this process, if it is decided that the article needs to be revised in terms of grammar, punctuation and/or spelling rules (margins, appropriate reference, etc.), the authors should be informed about this and given time to make the necessary corrections.
Manuscripts should include dates of submission and acceptance for publication.
When the authors request information about the status of their articles, the authors should be informed about the status of their articles in a way that does not disturb the double-open peer-review process.
Relations with the Editorial Board
The editor should convey the publishing and writing rules to the new editorial board members and explain what is expected of them.
The editor should convey the most current version of the publication and writing rules to the editorial board members.
The editor should evaluate the editorial board members and elect members to the editorial board who will actively participate in the development of the journal.
The editor should inform the members of the editorial board about the following roles and responsibilities.

Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher:

Iğdır University publishes the Journal of Iğdır University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and the ethical responsibilities of the publisher are as follows:
The publisher accepts that the decision-making and the refereeing process are the editor’s responsibility in publishing an article in the Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Iğdır University.
The publisher provides open, electronic and free access to the journal on the journal’s web page.
Plagiarism and Unethical Behaviors:
All articles sent to the Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Iğdır University are scanned with the IThenticate or Turnitin program before they are published. For the acceptance of the articles, the articles with a plagiarism rate of a maximum of 20% are accepted for publication. Articles exceeding this rate are examined in detail and sent back to the authors for revision or correction if deemed necessary. If plagiarism or unethical behaviour is detected, they are rejected for publication.

Some behaviours that are considered unethical are:

Fabrication: Creating non-existent data and results,
Falsification: Intentionally modifying and/or skipping data and/or results,
Duplication: Publishing the same work in more than one publication environment,
Slicing: Publishing a study by dividing it in order to increase the number of publications,
Plagiarism: Publishing the ideas, data, works and publications of others as their own, without making the necessary citations and citing the source, in accordance with scientific methods,
Gift authorship: Appearing/displaying as an author in a study (research design, data collection, evaluation, preparation and approval of publication) without adequate contribution,
Author hiding: Not including the name of the authors even though they contributed to the study,
Violation of the principle of voluntary participation: Forcing students or other participating groups to participate in the research,
Not obtaining informed consent: Obtaining the consent of the volunteers participating in the research without adequately informing them about the implementation steps and risks of the research,
Violation of the privacy policy: Sharing the personal or institutional data obtained from the participants without legal obligation, not keeping the identities of the participants in the research confidential.

Notifying the Editor of the Situation Not Complying with the Ethical Principles:

In case of an unethical situation regarding an article in the Journal of Iğdır University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, an e-mail must be sent to iibfdergi@igdir.edu.tr.
