Abstract

Abstract

Aim: This study was conducted to determine the effect of marital adjustment on fertility adjustment among infertile women.
Method: Designed as descriptive and cross-sectional, this study involved a sample consisting of a total of 141 women who applied to the infertility clinic for treatment and met the study inclusion criteria. This study was conducted between November 2020 and January 2021 in a province in the southeast of Türkiye. The data were collected using a personal information form, the Marital Adjustment Scale (MAS), and the Fertility Adjustment Scale (FAS) and were evaluated using descriptive statistics (percentage and mean), ANOVA, and independent t-test.
Results: There was no statistically significant difference between women with marital adjustment (36.51±5.60) and women without marital adjustment (37.36±5.29) in terms of fertility adjustment (p=0.629). In the study, no significant difference was found between the causes of infertility and marital adjustment (p=0.675). However, the marital adjustment mean score in all groups was below the cut-off score of the scale.
Conclusion: Marital adjustment did not affect fertility adjustment in infertile women.
