Erratum Note

At the authors’ request, certain expressions in the English abstract of the article cited above have been revised to improve clarity and linguistic accuracy. The relevant part of the Abstract should read as follows: “Locally extracted Azadirachta indica oil showed antibacterial activity against all three pathogenic bacteria, even at very low concentrations. Azadirachta indica seed oil inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa by 99.99%. The results showed that the oil could be a good source of antibacterial agents.” These revisions do not affect the data, scientific findings, or conclusions of the study. We respectfully bring this correction to the attention of our readers.

Abstract

The study was aimed to determine the antimicrobial activity of Azadirachtaindica seed oil against some disease-causing organism such as Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This study of antibacterial activity against selected pathogens was done by dilution method, agar disc diffusion method and agar well diffusion method. Pathogens were taken from General Hospital Mubi. The locally extracted oil tested showed antibacterial activity against all the three (3) pathogenic bacteria even at very low concentration. In case of two (2) of the pathogens (Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa), inhibition of growth caused by Azadirachta indica oil was 99.99%. The results showed that the oil will be an honest source of antibacterial agents. The encouraging observation also indicate that this oil should be exploited as natural antibiotic for the treatment of several infectious diseases caused by these pathogens and could be useful in understanding the relations between traditional cures and current medicines.
