Examination of Sports High School and Fine Arts High School Students' Communication Skills With Regards to Some Variances

Abstract

The objective of the research is to study the communication skills of students studying in Sports High School and Fine Arts High School in the context of various demographic variables and to scientifically demonstrate the possible discrepancies between students studying in two disparate educational fields. The working group of the study comprises of 262 volunteer high school students, 128 of whom are studying in Sports High School and 134 of whom are studying in Fine Arts High School. Research data were gathered via the "Personal Knowledge Form" and the "Communication Skills Evaluation Scale" composed by the researchers. In the assay of the data, definitive statistics, t-test to establish the disparity between two groups, Anova to detect the difference between more than two groups and Games-Howell test to identify the discrepancy between groups were utilized. In consequence of the research, a meaningful difference was detected in the communication abilities of the students studying at the Sports High School with regards to age variable. A significant disparity was discovered in the communication abilities of the participants with regards to the high school type variance for the benefit of the Fine Arts High School students. When the outcomes of the analysis made in terms of the other variable of the study, which is the class level variable, are examined, it was established that the communication skills of the 9th grade students in the Sports High School were pointedly higher than the students in the 11th and 12th grades.
