Abstract

Colosseum,
which is one of the most important elements of social-religious life of ancient
Roman period and first came to mind when it comes to gladiatorial fights,
continues to exist as a model structure for almost 2000 years with both its
infrastructure and superstructure architectural features and engineering
applications.
The
Colosseum was also built as a structure showing the power of the Flavian
family, so it has a political structure like other theaters and amphitheaters.
All these decisive
qualities made the Colosseum a magnificent building. During the implementation,
many companies have been responsible for different sectors. The technical
features that these companies have implemented and the effective application of
Roman concrete in building construction have also added a privilege to the
Colosseum technically and technologically.
Despite all the damage that has occurred in the
Colosseum for almost 2000 years, it continues to exist today as a structure
visited by many people. Within the scope of the study, the relationship of the
gladiator fights in the Colosseum to the social structure was expressed. In
this context, the effects of social construction on the construction decisions
of the Colosseum as an architectural structure are specified and the characteristics
related to the planning are expressed.

The current state of the
Colosseum has been observed and studied architecturally by the writer of the
study.
The construction phase
of the Colosseum was evaluated in terms of construction techniques and assessments
were made on the use and the resulting damage during the post-gladiatory
periods.

Abstract

teknolojik anlamda günün koşullarında yenilikler içermesi açısından Colosseum’a
