Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

The International Journal of Troy Art and Design (IJTAD), the official publication of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, adopts a publication policy that is open-access, scientific, impartial, and based on a rapid review process. All publications in the journal archive are freely accessible.

IJTAD strictly adheres to national and international ethical standards and principles concerning Publication Ethics, Research Ethics, and Legal/Special Permissions. All parties involved in the publication process are required to comply with the ethical rules outlined in the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

General Principles
• Articles submitted to IJTAD must be original, previously unpublished, and make a significant contribution to art and/or science.
• Under the double-blind peer review system, each submission is evaluated by two referees. If one reviewer provides a positive and another a negative report, a third reviewer is consulted. The final decision regarding publication rests with the Editorial Board.
• Editors, authors, and reviewers involved in the evaluation and publication process are considered to have accepted the ethical principles outlined below.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
• Authors must not submit their manuscripts to more than one journal simultaneously.
• Authors must obtain the necessary ethical committee approvals for their research.
• Upon submission, all authors must complete and sign the IJTAD Copyright Transfer Form. No royalties are paid to authors.
• Authors are required to upload a Similarity Report (from iThenticate or Turnitin) to the submission system. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 15% will not be considered for evaluation.
• Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the IJTAD Article Template and Writing Guidelines.
• If the research has received institutional or organizational support, this must be acknowledged in the article. Any personal or financial relationships that may influence the work must be disclosed.
• Authors must not engage in plagiarism, data fabrication, or data manipulation. All data, findings, and ideas derived from other sources must be properly cited.
• The list of authors must be accurate and complete. All listed authors should have made a direct contribution to the study, and author order should reflect their relative contribution.
• Works derived from theses, conference papers, or unpublished presentations must be clearly indicated. Republishing a previously published work in whole or in part without proper reference is not allowed.
• Authors should take into account the reviewers’ and editors’ comments during the evaluation process and acknowledge that the final publication decision lies with the Editorial Board.
• Authors must contact the IJTAD Editorial Office to report, correct, or retract any errors discovered in their published work.

Ethical Responsibilities of Editors and Section Editors
• IJTAD is responsible for publishing scientifically and artistically valuable articles and for ensuring an impartial and ethical double-blind peer review process.
• Editors must maintain confidentiality of all manuscripts submitted to the journal. They are responsible for assigning reviewers with appropriate expertise and ensuring that evaluations are independent and unbiased.
• In deciding on publication, editors consider the originality, contribution to the field, validity of research methods, accuracy of results, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
• Editors are responsible for conveying reviewers’ comments to authors without alteration, except in cases of offensive or inappropriate language.
• Editors should review authors’ appeals or objections to reviewer reports, determine whether they are substantiated, and, if necessary, seek additional reviewer opinions.
• Editors must ensure that manuscripts submitted by authors affiliated with IJTAD are evaluated impartially, and this must be communicated transparently to readers.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
• Reviewers should only accept assignments within their area of expertise and must complete their evaluations within the specified time frame.
• Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively and based on academic merit, avoiding any form of bias or personal judgment.
• All information regarding submitted manuscripts must be treated as confidential and must not be used for personal advantage.
• Reviewers should provide constructive and respectful feedback, aimed at improving the scholarly quality of the work.
• If reviewers detect plagiarism, ethical misconduct, or significant similarity with other works, they must report this to the editors immediately.
