TRIBES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 20TH CENTURY-SETTLEMENT AND POPULATION

Abstract

The essence of this study is the tribal census registered at the Ankara Regional Directorate of Manuscripts
with number A 9166. In this study, which consists of 112 leaves and 224 pages, there are tribes, names,
settlements, semi-nomadic or nomadic and populations that spread to Baghdat, Mosul, Diyarbakır,
Erzurum, Adana, Aleppo, Syria, Jerusalem, Adana, Konya Menteche provinces. In our calculation, a
population of more than 2.000.000 has been determined.
On the other hand, after the intoduction of the manuscript, the spreading areas of the tribes, their legal
status, eoconomic and social situation, the taxes they are obliged to pay in this context, and their
contribution to the transportation services in the supply of food for the army were examined. The
distinctive features of the tribes living the nomadic lifestyle, their conflicts with thes ettled people from
time to time, and their banditry movements come to thefore.

20. YÜZYILIN BAŞLARINDA AŞİRETLER- YERLEŞME ve NÜFUS

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın esası, Yazma Eserler Ankara Bölge Başkanlığında A9166 numara ile kayıtlı aşiret sayımıdır.
112 varak ve 224 sayfadan ibaret olan bu el yazmasında Bağdat, Musul, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Adana,
Halep, Suriye, Kudüs, Adana, Konya, Menteşe vilayetlerine yayılan aşiretler, adları, yerleşim yerleri, yarı
göçebe veya göçebe oldukları ve nüfusları mevcuttur. Yaptığımız hesaplamada 2.000.000’un üzerinde bir
nüfus tespit edilmiştir.
Öte yandan yazmanın tanıtımı yapıldıktan sonra, aşiretlerin yayılma alanları, hukukî durumları, iktisadî
ve sosyal vaziyetleri, bu bağlamda ödemekle yükümlü oldukları vergiler ve ordunun ikmal ve iaşesi
konusunda nakliye hizmetlerine katkıları incelenmiştir. Konar-göçer hayat tarzını yaşayan aşiretlerin
belirgin özellikleri, zaman zaman yerleşik halk ile çatışmaları ve eşkıyalık hareketleri ön plana çıkmaktadır.
