Abstract

Kapitalist piyasa sisteminin
sürdürülebilirliği ekonomik büyümenin sürekliliğine dayalıdır. Son yüzyılda dünya
ekonomisinin ekonomik büyümeyi sağlaması hem ormanlar gibi yenilenebilir
kaynaklara hem de yenilenemeyen petrol ve mineral gibi kaynaklara göreli olarak
daha ucuz erişimine dayalıdır. Ekonomik büyüme için bu kaynakların
tüketimindeki artış dünyayı iklim ve ekolojik krizle karşı karşıya bırakmıştır.

Ragnarok, İskandinav mitolojisinde kıyamet
günü de olarak da adlandırılan Kozmos’un içindeki her şeyin sonunun gelmesi
olayıdır. Ragnarok yaşandığı sırada, yalnızca insanların değil, tanrıların ve
devlerin de yok olduğu görülmüştür. Ragnarok olayı bugün yaşanılan iklim krizinin
bir habercisi gibidir. İklim değişikliğine neden olan unsurların yalnızca dünya
kaynaklarının etkinsiz yönetiminden kaynaklanmadığı, kapitalizmin kendi
mantığından kaynaklandığı çalışmanın hipotezi olarak ortaya konulmuştur. Çalışmanın
hipotezi verilerle, iklim krizinin sonuçlarıyla ve mitolojiyle desteklenmeye
çalışılmıştır.
