Analysis of Preschool Teachers’ and Six Years Old Children’s Views On Play

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal the opinions and the expectations of preschool teacher and six years old children about play. For this purpose, in teachers aspect; it was investigated the views of the teachers about play, defination of play, preferences of using play as a method of learning and with in this practice, opportunities of play provided for children and the barries to children's play needs. Also in children aspect, it was examine to the views of child about play, play behavior and satisfaction and expactations regarding opportunities of play. A semi-structured interview questions was used as data collection tool. As a result, it is found that children and teachers focus on similar properties concerning the description of play, the perception of children about play was affected by teachers attitudes and behaviors. In addition, most of teachers do not realize the importance of play in the curriculum and that they do not benefit play as an active teaching method. Some of teacher are aware of deficiency on this situation and it is determined that teacher are needed to be supported.

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı; erken çocukluk dönemindeki 6 yaş çocuklarının ve okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin oyun hakkındaki görüş ve beklentilerinin ortaya koyulmasıdır. Bu amaçla araştırmanın öğretmen boyutunda; öğretmenlerin oyun hakkındaki görüşleri, oyunu tanımlayıcı bilgileri,  öğrenme sürecinde oyunu bir yöntem olarak kullanma tercihleri, bu konudaki uygulamaları ile çocuklara sağladıkları oyun fırsatları ve çocukların oyun gereksinimi karşısındaki engeller araştırılmıştır. Araştırmanın çocuk boyutunda ise çocukların oyun hakkındaki görüşleri, oyun davranışları, oyun fırsatları ile ilgili memnuniyet ve beklentileri incelenmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme soruları kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda çocukların ve öğretmenlerin oyun tanımlarına ilişkin benzer özellikler üzerinde durdukları görülürken, çocukların oyun algılarının öğretmenlerin tutum ve davranışlarından etkilendiği, öğretmenlerin çoğunun eğitim programı içinde oyunun önemini fark etmedikleri ve aktif bir öğretim yöntemi olarak oyundan faydalanmadıkları, bazı öğretmenlerin ise bu konudaki eksikliklerinin farkında oldukları ve desteklenmeye ihtiyaç duydukları belirlenmiştir.
