CIVILIAN OVERSIGHT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT
Abstract
Civilian oversight is a relatively new concept for Turkey, which has a half-century
history in developed Western countries. Turkey has made significant changes in the
legislative and institutional arrangements relating to fundamental rights and freedoms,
within the framework of the political criteria that must be fulfilled in the European Union
(EU) accession process. These include innovations in the supervision of the arm. However,
all the controls are carried out in Turkey so transparent, accountable and is not satisfactory.
In our country there is a need for a civilian denomination that accounts for the public, not
the state and authority. in this article is focused on the importance of civilian oversight and
its requirements
